I might get a DS Lite. Not sure. Have one unit now that gets a fair bit of use. But with my 360, it doesn't get tons of play. Though, if I could sell it off to just about pay for a Lite model. Hmmm.. that would be worth it.

I didn't check my humor at the door when they hired me. :p

It's an Opera browser add on cart with an extra ram cart to speed up browsing. It will set you back about $30 and is currently only announced for Japan.

I'm sure it would as the DS game cart slot is identical.

I thought i read that it uses the ds slot and the GBA slot (for the memory upgrade). So if it has a ds lite sized GBA cartridge, it wouldn't fit, right?

Where was it stated that the RAM would be a non-standard GBA cartridge size?

gimmepilotwings 03-07-06 03:23 PM

Well, I plan on buying a Lite. I currently have 2 DS's (me and the wife) and I will give my away to my son (4 year old, and yes, he is old enough to play it and play it well).

glasschicken 03-07-06 03:33 PM

If you buy a DS or any other Ds than the one you're using now does your Friend Code change in games? I heard that the friend codes are cart/ds specific.

gimmepilotwings 03-07-06 03:49 PM

It will change.

Well, they already stated they are coming out with a smaller sized rumble cartridge for the DS Lite. Maybe they'll do the same for this? I don't know, it's just conjecture...

amazing comparo.

kakihara1 03-07-06 04:45 PM

Ack!!! I was being made fun of and I didn't even know it, I should have known one of you guys would be going over my posts for spelling errors, BTW I suck at spelling [insert me flipping you bastards off emoticon here] ;)

How long do you suppose you'll have to wait for the Ice Pink DS Pixy? that's what has me thinking of waiting, the second I buy an Ice Blue one they'll come out with a color I want more, it's inevitable.

Outlaw 03-07-06 04:52 PM

Saw this comparison video between the regular DS and the Lite on another site and thought it did a really good job pointing out the improvements. And damn is the screen ever so nice! :)

edit: I accidentally forgot to hit submit when I went for dinner and just hit submit when I came back, but upon refreshing noticed sureAV421 already posted the site before mine that the review video is from. Eitherway you guys really need to see it! :)

WOW. The new one has a much better screen. Hmmm now I'm wondering if I should keep the old one so we have two later on.

The rumble is optional. A company isn't going to cut off millions of users by making the ram cart that is required to use the browser only fit the new models. It will either be regular GBA sized or out in both sizes I'm sure.

Goldberg74 03-07-06 07:52 PM

It's awsomer!

... now I know why I got the Micro... so I could wait for the DS Lite to come out! ;)

I will be getting one of these.

PixyJunket 03-08-06 06:14 AM

That video is awesome. Look at the amazing difference.. oh, by the way that's on the lowest setting.

Importing a DS Lite is a risk...

I got my Nintendo DS Lite, opened the package with anticipation, and marvelled at how excellent the design was. I turned it on, put in my settings, and tried a game. Almost immediately, I noticed a "stuck" green pixel right smack in the center of the screen. Obviously, it is most visible when the screen is black. Its one of those things that will irritate the hell out of some people and not bother others at all. I'm one of the ones that is irritated as hell about it!

I did some research, and people have reported success using various methods. Many users have had success on Nintendo DS units, as well as PSPs and regular LCD PC screens. See:

This link illustrates the "rubbing" method: http://wiki.ehow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pix...an-LCD-Monitor

This link has comments from Nintendo DS users saying the "rubbing" method worked for them (and some saying it did not): http://digg.com/technology/How_to_Fi...an_LCD_Monitor

This website has a "flashing" program that you can use if you have a GBA movie player. Some have apparently reported success playing the video and getting it to un-stick the pixel: http://www.pineight.com/gba/

I tried massaging the stuck pixel for some time, with no luck. I ordered a GBA movie player, which I wanted anyhow, and will try that when it comes in.

My question is this: Have any of you tried any of these methods to fix a stuck pixel (NOT A DEAD PIXEL, which cannot be fixed)? What success have you had?

How does that make importing one a risk? My DS has a "Stuck" pixel and I bought it at wal-mart.

Because it's easier to return to the store or communicate with Nintendo of America to get a replacement?

Assuming he bought it from Lik-Sang or Playasia it's very easy to return things to them I've had to do it before. Excellent customer service if you ask me.

Will NoA not honor warranty on imported hardware? Even after the Lite launches here?
