Stranglehold (a John Woo game)

Anyone else looking forward to Stranglehold? Gamespot has a new video preview and interview with John Woo and the developers. This game is looking really good so far. They are using Chow Yun Fat's likeness and voice acting to recreate Inspector Tequila from the Hard Boiled movie. This is basically an unofficial sequel to Hard Boiled. It features the usual John Woo action with slow motion, dual handguns, sliding across tables, etc. It also has full destructible environments. The game is being released for PS3, Xbox360, and PC.

Hard Boiled is my favorite movie of all time. I cannot wait for this thing. I just hope it opens up with Chow Yun Fat playing clarinet

That's what I was thinking too. You have to remember though that Max Payne was inspired by John Woo. They even use "John Woo" as a password in the first Max Payne game.

I too loved Hard Boiled, but as cool as videos look, in the end it will come down to controls in a game like this. Here's hoping they don't mess up (don't developers almost always do?)

This could be great, especially as a sequel to Hard Boiled. Can't wait to see how the finished product turns out.

I thought it was going to be a sequel to duck hunt. Shoot. (No pun intended)

Typically when they've got this much "pre-sell" on a game, ie: John Woo, Chow Yun Fat, sequel to Hard Boiled.. the development process is pretty much reduced to: get something on the shelf so we can the sell the game on these other merits. It's not ALWAYS the case (see: Chronicles of Riddick) but for something that has this much riding on its coattails, I'd keep your expectations in check.

Agreed. Hard Boiled was much better than The Killer IMO.

The Killer is overrated.

Incorrect.

As for the game, hopefully it plays as good as it looks.
