I haven't played it yet, but it's out because I just picked it up at my local EB Games.

Seems to be getting OK reviews so far: http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/927204.asp

Actually make that "fantastic" reviews since this is a TV show tie-in and they usually blow.

I bought this mainly because I'm a huge 24 fan. The character models are good but the textures could have been a little more detailed. The control scheme is a little sketchy at times. Most times you have to be in just the right spot before the action will work. The difficulty is moderate to easy. AI is good but, not the best I've seen. I've only been through the first 2 levels and finished them in about an hour. The game is going to be 12 hours or less to finish I guess. All the voice acting really makes the game. Glad to see all the actors from the show add their talents to this game.

So I guess this game only counts as half a season of the show.

That's too bad. I was hoping Ubisoft would make this game (using the Splinter Cell engine).

Funny--that's exactly what I was thinking when I was playing it last night. The running is pretty goofy and the movements are just not smooth like Splinter Cell. That said, I do like the game overall, partly because I'm a big fan of the show and partly because it's got a nice well-roundedness to it--lots of shooting, plus puzzles, interrogation, etc. Now if I can just stop shooting people who are trying to surrender...

The "24"-ness of the game really makes it playable. Without it, it would just be an average game. The controls are clunky as hell. Running in a straight line takes considerable effort at times. But having the actual cast do the voices and having the trademark sound effects and score music absolutely make this worth playing.

I'm in the third hour, and so far the writers haven't really found a way to end each hour with something cliffhanger-ish. Someone will be talking and then all of a sudden things just cut to that hour's final countdown. Anti-climactic.

Also, I don't get the point of the "shout" button (I think it's R2). Depending on who you're playing as, let's say Jack for example, when you press it he'll shout "FEDERAL AGENT!" Now, that's cool and all... but does it do anything? Will people throw down their guns if you shout that when entering a room? Do you gain percentage points for the level if you go "by the book"?

Heh, I keep doing that too. I'll restrain someone and keep thinking that you can do something to them after you do. Next thing I know I've either shot them or slashed them to death.

Interrogation?? Does that mean we can torture people?

One question: Does it has text caption when people talking?

Subtitles are an option you can turn on or off in the menus. They default to off.

It's not really torture, but you can be coercive and shout and point your gun at people. At least in the demo. I was hoping you could use some electroshock therapy to get info out of people but I'm not sure ifthe final game lets you do that.

I am really tempted to get this game but I may wait until after I get Kingdom Hearts II. Still, this is definitely on my buy list. So, all 24 coolness aside, the game on it's own fared better than Alias, right? I held off on buying that one cos I read it was rather ho-hum.

Ugh. Review is up at IGN. It gets a 4.2, despite a 9.5 in presentation. Lousy gameplay. Too bad, indeed.

I can't really argue with anything in that review. But I'm still having fun with the game.

Big fan of the show, but I think I will wait on this until it hits the bargain bin.

I've just recently gotten into this show, on DVD, and I'm about 10 episodes into the First Season/series. Does the storyline follow the series, or is it something that's made up, but exists in the "world of 24"? If it does follow the series, what season(s)?

It takes place between season 2 and 3.

I just got the game and have been playing it throughout some of the day. While the graphics aren't that great at all (though I've been basically only playing the 360 for the last few months so that could be why) and there are several glitches in control, I am still really enjoying the game. It's got the presentation down so well that even though there are some big gameplay problems, I'm still liking it. I even like how there is a lot of variation in the missions you get to do, as so far it hasn't really seemed boring (though I'm only six hours into the game "24" time, so maybe 2 1/2 - 3hrs, real time).

I was kinda surprised about IGN's review being so low, as if they went by an average it'd be well over 6.

I had 2 guys surrender at the same time and while I was cuffing one of them the other guy picked up his gun and shot me in the back.

Also the very first thing I did in the game while I was experimenting with the controls was club one of my team in the back of the head while he was providing me cover.

I've always enjoyed Alex Navarro's video reviews for gamespot.com (especially with awful games), but he REALLY outdoes himself with his (and his friends') 24 Review. Oh, for the love of God, check this one out!
