Gamecube Component Video Cable
I am looking for on of these cables and nintendo doesn't make them anymore.
So it's either ebay or an import site like play-asia. Is there a difference from the USA version and the Japanesse version of the cables? |
Your timing stinks, Nintendo.com had them in stock up until yesterday, mine shipped earlier this week.
|
Make sure your Gamecube has the Digital A/V out before buying the cables.
|
I ordered mine when Nintendo had it on backorder and it shipped a few days later. Just place the order with Nintendo. It's funny though, I bought mine new for 35 bucks and sold it used on ebay for $50. That was a pleasent suprise.
|
I'm using the Japanese component cables and I have no problems.
Although, make sure you have the digital A/V out like Suprmallet suggested. |

thanks for the help! Yes I did check for the digital a/v out it it is there, So I guess I will get the japanese version. Looking forward to it!

Nintendo.com sells them for $40 + $7 shipped...Ebay is you're best bet and would only be about $5-7 more.

Of course, I am now kicking myself for putting off ordering this for so long. I should have known when they dropped the digital video out on newer Gamecubes that it was only a matter of time for this to occur.

This thread reminded me that I have a GC component cable, but I no longer have a GC.
If anyone is interested in buying it, let me know. |
I ordered it last month when it was out-of-stock and they said the cable would be shipped this month. I got the cable last week.
|
I'd be surprised if they stop selling them altogether. They still sell cables and stuff for the NES.
|
The strange thing is the designs for the Revolution show it using the exact same component cable. You would think they would still keep producing them.

Considering how expensive these were, they better work for the freakin Revolution.
|
As much as I would have like to see Zelda, Metroid, RE4, etc. digitally, I just could not justify the $50 pricetag. With Nintendo or importing as the only options, there was no way to find them on sale.
|
Yeah, it's hard to justify buying the component cables right now. Especially since Reggie just stated that Zelda won't come out til the Fall.
I was debating selling my Cube, since it's basically just collecting dust... but I figured I may as well keep it since I wouldn't get much for it anyways. |
Well, I called Nintendo today and even though you can't order them on-line they had them available to order over the phone. I got them for $29.99 + $5 shipping. The lady I spoke with said they weren't taking any more on-line orders for them only phone. I didn't understand why not and she didn't have a reason why. Oh well, I'm just happy I got the cables. :D

i put my order in on nintendo.com back in early january. while they said it was on backorder, it did eventually ship (got it 2 weeks ago). so if you want to wait, just order it from nintendo.
p.s.-- i didn't notice a BIG difference in quality of the image with component cables, in my opinion. although i only tested it with mario kart, and mvp baseball2k4. (and yes, i did hold down the b-button and said "yes play in progressive mode") |

I was about to order the ones from Play-Asia but they're on back order and the e-mail response I got from them as to when they might get more didn't sound good. If I were you I would call Nintendo and get your set ordered and then cancel with Play-Asia otherwise you might be waiting a while.
