Any good recommendations for Old Xbox games that are BC with 360?

Reading the other XBox 360 Backwards Compatibility thread, a lot of people (myself included) thought that there would be a lot of new XBox games available to play on 360. I've got Far Cry: Instincts, Indigo Prophecy, and X-Men II waiting to be played on my 360 with no hope of an update on those any time soon.

So far the updated BC results have been less than stunning, and without much coming soon on the 360 horizon a lot of the BC titles are pretty old and can be found fairly cheap. Here's a link to the official BC list:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/back...ygameslist.htm

Does anybody have any recommendations of older games on there that might have gone overlooked? I'd highly recommend Deathrow to anybody interested in sports titles. It's an awesome futuristic sports/fighting game that's on sale at Gamestop.com for $7.99. A more pricey title that I spent a ton of time playing is Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. It's a sim theme-park style game with dinosaurs that's crazy addictive. It's $24.99 at Gamestop.com, but I bet you could find it cheaper if you kept your eyes open at the usual used video stops.

Any other good BC titles we might have overlooked to keep us busy for a while?

Does anyone still play Crimson Skies? I recently picked up a dirt cheap copy for my friend so that we can play against each other.

I barely remember seeing Crimson Skies last week cheap at EB, how's the multiplayer?

Multi-play is fun. It's basically Mech Assault with planes! Lots of game types too.

Its $4.99 used at ebgames. Picked up copies 9 and 10 a couple of weeks ago.

If you only get three games that are BC on 360, make them Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. These games, more than anything else, have made having an Xbox worthwhile. Greatest Games EVER. Period.

Yeah crimson skies is fun, both in single and multiplayer. I was surprised that anyone was playing multiplayer because last year around this time you couldn't even find a live match for that game. The only crapper is they have it display in 4:3 so if you want widescreen you've got to switch your 360 to 480p wide kind of a pisser.

Hmm, I couldn't disagree more. After the cheat in III that let you drop tanks from the sky, the rest of the games kind of paled in comparison, and even the tanks got a bit boring after a while. I have a completely untouched copy of Vice City sitting in my bedroom, and the only reason I won't sell it is because I'll get about $.50 for it.

Sadly, I found the amount of backwards compatible games with good live capabilities were lacking. Of course, Halo 2 is the premiere BC title, and the only old Xbox game I play on my 360. The rest I play on the regular Xbox.

Looking through the list, the games I'm seeing that look like they're worth your time buying are Call of Cthulu, Fable, Half-Life 2, the Halos, Mega Man Anniversary Collection, Ninja Gaiden Black, Prince of Persia, Red Dead Revolver, Sonic Mega Collection, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, the Tom Clancy games, and that's it for games I've actually played.

And then, you also get into the issue of how well they're emulated in the first place. Halo 2 looks amazing, of course, and runs as smoothly as any first-rate game, but Ninja Gaiden looked like crap on my 360, and I've heard that Half-Life 2 is slow as hell. So you might want to rent some of these before you buy them to make sure the 360 actually does them justice.

P.S. The Jurassic Park game is actually quite fun, but I found myself just letting the dinosaurs loose on people too often.

I couldn't agree more. DOA3 and Halo2 are the only super good looking games I've played that play like they should. Its too bad Unreal Championship 2 didn't get a good treatment for BC that game is so fun, but it never really took off one of those games. But some games its so craptafied on the emulator. Like the games that only display in 4:3 when you're running 720p or 1080i. I would think they've had all this time to get the emulator working um hello do a better F***ING JOB!

And I'd be nice and give you ummm a $1.00 for Vice City.

Hell yeah, good times. My favorite addition to my park was directly as you walked in the park there was a carnivore cockfighting pit. It was a rectangular area where I put my two most bloodthirsty carnivores together in the cage and surrounded it with as many of those high angle viewing booths as would fit. That thing raked in the cash and those dinos would fight 24/7. Throw in a few bathrooms and a merchandise stand, it was my cheapest and most profitable addition $$$

Random, maybe stupid because it's so obvious, question:

Do the games that didn't support progressive scan on the Xbox (The Thing, for example) run in progressive scan on the 360?

Jade Empire would be a must I reckon. Highly recommended action rpg. Nice production values.
