Nintendo DS game suggestions

I picked up one of the Mario Kart DS bundles and am looking for suggestions on some other good games to pick up?

Yeah, that's pretty much the list, if you add advance wars ds.

And Animal Crossing. And Nintendogs. And Trauma Center. And that lawyer game. And a whole slew of GBA games.

Maybe it'd be helpful if you told us what genres you like?

Eh, whatever. People put too much faith into dollars per hour. It's basically an arcade game which means if you play games to "beat" them, it'd probably be in your best interest to skip it. Otherwise it's a perfect portable title, something you can play for 10 minutes or an hour and the end premise is to beat your high score. It goes back to the idea of having to develop skill to be good at a game, not buy a strategy guide.

Reviews.

I guess. I was never much for playing to get high scores (hated the Atari era), so I guess I made the right choice to skip it.

As for reviews, yes I read them. With limited money and 5 hours or less a week to spend on gaming, I can't try everything and need some guidance, and thus use EGM reviews and the impressions posted here to help narrow down my list of games to check out.

Variety. There are 100's of different little games in the warioware games. And it takes quite a while to see them all.

Yoshi's Touch and Go is just 3 modes, one with the same level over and over and randomly generated in the other (which is stupid as it kind of defeats trying to get a high score if it's not the same thing each time). Got old super fast IMO.

Pac Pix I haven't played enough to compare directly, so I don't reccomend for or against it. I just said it didn't pique my interest enough to try it.

Phoenix Wright is great. Also Trace Memory if you like adventure games.

If you like the idea of virtual pets nintendogs is a must.

I'd like to throw out Metroid Pinball. its an extremely fun little time waster, and it also comes with the rumble pack, which Mario and Luigi uses as well(and many more future games I understand are going to utilize it as well)

Thought I would give this a bump instead of starting a new thread. I am sure there are more to add since the last six months.

I saw it briefly mentioned above but was particularly interested in Metroid Pinball. Also mention if there are other pinball games worth checking out be it either the DS or GBA. You can also throw in any "must have" GBA games on here as well as I am new to both. Thanks.

Metroid Pinball is a lot of fun. And it nets you a rumble pack, which other games can use.

Good idea bumping this as there's so many DS threads that have the same question asked. This makes more sense.

Going to add Tetris DS to this. Great game with lots of interesting new ways to play. WiFi brings it to a whole 'nother level.

I think it goes without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway, New Super Mario Bros is the shit.

My top choices for purchase.
1) New Super Mario Bros (best DS game I have played)
2) Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
3) Phoenix Wright
4) Mario and Luigi
5) Tony Hawk's American Sk8land (maybe the only american developed game that is a must buy)
6) Meteos
7) Sonic Rush
8) Kirby Canvas Curse
9) Super Princess Peach
10) Electroplankton

Animal Crossing is off my top ten. I am over that game. Without the NES games included in the GameCube version I lost interest in this game. The payoff for long term play is basically nothing.
