I asked in the other thread, but no one ever responded. Does anyone who preordered at Samsclub.com have any idea what our order status is? It's getting close and I'm starting to get the pre-lauch jitters.

Just a heads up if you wanted the good system.

I kind of suspected that since his statement seemed to contradict what others have posted about GameStop's policy.

I was wondering if he just wanted me to go ahead and pre-pay, giving me info that would push me towards pre-paying vs. waiting. Do you think it would matter to him as a manager either way?

Gallant Pig 11-16-05 09:27 PM

If sales are better in his store it makes him look good. I take it he was just trying to hustle you into putting your money there and just waiting for it to come in versus buying it somewhere else on launch date.

DVDKrayzie 11-16-05 10:14 PM

what time are you guys planning on getting to the stores to wait? the best buy near me is only getting 46 360s and opening at 9am, so i'm going to drive 2 hours to the BB that's getting 200 and opening at midnight,

i waited in line at for my PS2 at best buy on launch day and anyone who showed up after midnight for the 9-10am opening was already too late, and they got more PS2s than 360s (for this store, i yhink they had almost 100 of them),

only 1 wal-mart in the are is selling them at midnight and they claim to only have 15. And considering i had to ask three people that work in the video game department before i actually found someone who even knew what an xbox 360 is, i'm kinda scared to take my chances there.

Dragon Fly 11-16-05 10:32 PM

I got a call last week from my Gamestop telling me I was all set for launch. I got a call today telling me that I wouldn't be getting one. Turns out my Gamestop is getting only 40 systems and I'm #42! (I appreciate the irony in the number, but come on!) I'm crossing my fingers because the guy told me that there's a chance I'll be able to still get one at launch, it's a small chance, but hey, a guy can hope!

I preordered on 5/26 thinking I would be near the front of the line... boy was I wrong!

Slowpc 11-16-05 10:40 PM

Well , i hope my pre-order still goes through myself. Pre-ordered mine on may 13th , the first day the sku was placed into the computer.

Time will tell... but until then... off to play some Shadow the hedgehog to keep me busy.

Nobody seems to answer that question around here. I have asked multiple times and have never gotten a reply. If it's any help, my Best Buy opens at 9:00 am and I plan on getting there at midnight. I'm then going to wait in my car until I see people sart to line up before I get in line too.

Playboy19 11-16-05 11:10 PM

Wow, it appears that more people are getting the 360 on launch day than I initially thought. I took my name off the pre-order list after much debating...guess I'll wait until Christmas :( . Enjoy your 360 guys!

Flay 11-16-05 11:10 PM

I'm waiting to call the stores about their launch allotments and procedures until this weekend. Most employees will have probably already been asked several times by then.

Walmart after work on Monday around 5 or 6 p.m. if I have too. Then it's just a short 4-5 hour wait until they pass out tickets at 10 p.m. If that fails, then Best Buy around 2-3 a.m. If there are too many in line, then it's Circuit City or Target next. I'll post a more detailed battle plan on Sunday.

The first 10-15 people on the list are probably employees and their friends! ;)

Daryl 11-16-05 11:19 PM

I am going with a couple of friends so it kind of depends on them a little bit. I would like to be at Best Buy by 2 or 3, so in case the line is long, we can bounce to another BB and try there. Looking at the 10-day forecast (which doesn't mean much right now), Tuesday says "high of 44 and Snow Showers". Ugh. I like Eric D's plan of chilling in the car until a line starts to form. Since I'll be with friends, we'll probably rotate sitting in the car and staying warm, watching DVD's. Luckily I have Tuesday off so I can sleep afterwards!

innocentfreak 11-16-05 11:44 PM

Talking to one of the girls at work today and her husband works at the Super Walmart. They only got 14 systems with 4 of them being premium and 10 being core. I haven't found out any other details yet, because the store doesnt know yet. I am hoping to find out if they are doing tickets and when you can line up. If not I will hit Sams this weekend to find out and same with my local Circuit City.

I will probably get PGR3 and thats it for now. I would have grabbed DOA4 but it got pushed back. I also swore I saw somewhere that Dynasty Warriors 5 was coming out for the system but can't find it mentioned anywhere now.

According to a few friends of mine who work at Best Buy and Gamestop,
the numbers they were told said that Best Buys are getting more Premiums
than Core, and about twice as many systems per store than Gamestop/EB.
The weekly sale thread however claims "XBOX 360 Core System w/Removable
20 GIG Hard Drive is $399.99 (Minimum 20 per store)". Is this actually the
Premium system?

Giantrobo 11-17-05 01:33 AM

Well, I'm not lining up for ANY bullshit like a video game system.

Anyway, I didn't think I would have money for a 360 but now it looks like I will. Apparently since I didn't pre-order anywhere I'm screwed. No big deal. I'll just get one after Christmas...

The people lining up 12+ hours early are off their rocker.

With that said, I paid my sister 50 bucks to stand in line for me. It's cold outside...

I am very seriously considering giving one of the neighborhood teens $100 to stand in line at Walmart. Hell, that's not much more than I'd spend extra on the pre-order from cc considering shipping and the fact I don't want both racing games.

Maybe "You get $20 for going over and $80 if you come back with a premium system".

Yep, I think that's the way to go. Send him over at 7:00 or so.

That was the only thing I could think of, convince me to go ahead and pay it off to decrease the chances of buying one elsewhere. I wonder if I'm really "in the 30s" as far as my position on the pre-order list?

Oh well, I bought one last night from costco.com. Between that and my GameStop pre-order, I'm done. I don't really have any interest in camping out at a store. Maybe things will work out and I'll get one soon.

Check my thread at the top of the forum. Every Best Buy store and their launch allotments are posted in the FAQ. It's nice to know how many your local Best Buy has before wasting hours in line.

innocentfreak 11-17-05 07:43 AM

I am off tomorrow so I may go down to the Super Walmart and act like I am standing in line starting Friday. I am curious if they will give me a ticket or if they aren't starting that till Monday around 10.

I tried calling my local Gamerush to verify they were getting all 10 system (or more), and to see if they heard about this. Unfortunately they said only the Gamerush manager could answer those questions, and he won't be in until tomorrow afternoon.

I don't see that happening at every GR...we'll see though. If not, I'll get mine Tuesday morning, no big deal. I planned on taking that day off of work anyways. I may go pay it off today too. I know I was #1 on the list.....I just hope they follow that list.

Anubis2005X 11-17-05 08:05 AM

Yeah, I'm just gonna worry about getting one of these after Christmas. As I see it, there's quite a few games I still need to finish/ start, and plenty of amazing titles for the DS. That, plus the fact that I've got finals coming up and I'll be goin' home for a little bit for Winter Break... yeah, definitely not missing much by putting it on the back burner.

Just seemed weird getting the news this late. Now employees that want one, have to go and wait at the only store around here that did not do pre-orders , walmart.

With about 100,000 people around here... and a walmart with like 40 systems... does not look too good there.

I waited off fully pre-ordering my machine because I thought... "hey, wouldn't the company I work for want me to buy 1k worth of games and the system and PRP/PSP (warrenty) and stuff?" "Don't they want their employees to be somewhat knowledgeable with the product since they own it themselves?" Now, getting the message around 5 days before launch... I hope I get one at EB. Ok.. so we can't get anything at launch.. why not a game? With like the average systems shipped to stores around like 40 , if the store gets 70 copies of a game... that should not be a major problem.

And... we did not get any idea when we will be able to get one... will it be next shipment? Next Month? Next Year? Hopfully the manager hears from Corp. on more info on this.

Now the store has a large chunk of somewhat mad employees, hehe.

Ok... I am done with that little Rant... :)

But what manager wants your repeat business with your employee discount over a potential repeat customer who pays full price? Why would he want a satisfied employee who is going to shop there anyway and piss off customers who are now going to shop elsewhere? It is all about the long term, not just the intial day sales. If the manager has 50 people walk away happy they are going to tell other people that they had no problems and spread the word to head to X store to get it. If that manager lets 20 employees in on the 50 boxes, 20 people are going to walk away pissed off, go elsewhere and share their experience with others affecting other potential customers.

You can ask that how would anyone know if employees aren't in uniform, trust me, piece of cake. Standing in line for multiple hours, it is easy to overhear multiple conversations, and with a bunch of employees talk of work tends to come up. Or when a guy gets up to the check out point he starts chatting up the cashier. Anyway, it becomes quite clear who in line works there.

ChrisHicks 11-17-05 09:19 AM

I'm going to put on my best Boba Fett costume and get in line in a few hours...oh wait...aren't we talking about Star Wars?

I have mine preordered at Gamerush and I'm supposedly #8 on the list. if I don't get one on release day I'm just going to cancel my order and forget about getting one for now. its much too cold around here to be standing in an outside line 12+hrs. before a store opens. what good will it be to have a shiny new 360 if I'm dead from pneumonia?

Mr. Cinema 11-17-05 09:48 AM

My local Best Buy wouldn't tell me how many they are getting and they are opening at 10 am. I think I'll just wait awhile before I get one.
