Arcade Game Challenge #51: 極度のバレーボールの版
 

In these threads we play arcade games that are emulated on PCs, and compete for the highest score.
You have to take care of finding the games yourself.
Click here for the list of all the past winners and high scores.


The Rules:

1. To enter, you just play one of the games and post a screenshot with your score.
2. Once all the games have a score, the deadline to post any new scores will be 72 hours after the last screenshot is posted.
3. The winner can pick any game that we haven't already played for the next thread. Don't forget to pick a new game, or I'll do it for you!
4. Any games should be played with one credit and no continues or any features not on the actual machine.
5. If you play and beat any of the high scores from the previous games we've played, you can submit them for the All Time Top Scores.

The Prize:
Whoever gets the high score for one of the current games picks the next game that replaces it. You also get your name <s>engraved</s> permanently etched onto this eye catching trophy with a genuine Sharpie!

interesting twist on the puzzle game we've played a dozen times. I saw something with a submarine that I think was a bonus stage, but it went by too fast.

There's a big jump in difficulty between Cuba and China. Best I got against China was 13-15 and you only get points when you win :mad:

Blocking using MacMame is useless. Neither side blocks.

That may be the weirdest thing you've found in MacMame yet :confused: That completely changes the gameplay. Does it just go through their arms or do they not jump? I don't think I would be able to get 12000 points on the first level without blocking. That was the quickest way I could score a point by blocking their first return, because it seems nearly impossible to serve an ace.

There's not even a deflection. The blockers go up but it goes right thru them. However (being a defensive specialist that I am ;)), I've been able to get to Team USSR by digging. :D

I serve aces all the time. It's about the only way I can get points. Blocking is hard to do and when i miss my block i can rarely dig it from the back.

I think it serves you best NOT to block. You only eat up time, which is how you rack up a higher score. I'd rather run transition offense digging from the back row. You're playing as the Japanese team anyway. They're known for their defense.

I used to play this on the Turbo GraFX head to head against a friend. I'd pick the Swiss team(?) and let him choose whatever powerhouse team he wanted. I believe the Brazilian team(?) is the highest ranked IIRC. Also, there are certain offenses that work better against certain teams. Running the quicks, the tandem, and the backrow attack vs some teams makes things easier. Also, I do nothing but jump serve. Wastes little time and you can pretty much ace against the Cubans and the Chinese.

No, you are wrong. Blocking is easy and aces are hard. :p

That's awesome! Every now and then, when someone beats the pants off of everyone here I'll go check MARP to compare. Usually the score on MARP is ten times higher than the highest here :lol:

I never heard of MARP until you mentioned it here. Now I'm wasting too much time trying to beat a few of the scores. But most of them are outrageously high. I'm trying to beat the joystick versions of Rampart now.

Took me too long to beat Japan 17-16, but I made a decent showing against the USSR 13-15

I had to practice against Japan a lot before I could finally beat them

I swear it went longer than a 2 team world tournament. Oh yeah, this was done without blocking.

I just realized I'm still the leader for Uo Poko. I only played it the one time to see what it was. I'll pick Turkey Shoot if this is where the thread ends.

Yeah, well Ustimias shouldn't play games so early in the morning. I was trying to figure out what I should do since nobody picked anything. The simplest solution was just to beat your score. :p

Where do I get the overlays? I was able to get about 300 points in world 3. It completely sucks.

Well I already reported your post to a mod, so expect your banning soon.

I've decided I now like Snapjack and being kicked very hard in the testicles. Both those things are now fun due to my amazingly strong willpower.

For my 2nd pick I choose Spyhunter. I would also like to make this my first pick in case I somehow do not win two games.

OK, I give up then. I love Spyhunter even though the controls are nearly impossible. I'm pretty sure I had figured out a way to do it a few years back. At least I got a lot farther than I ever did as a kid on the arcade machine. We'll have to share tips.
