They even provide a list of compatability ratings as determined by nintendo testing. They are really trying to help people get online here.

As far as I know you have to have a game that has Wi-Fi capability in order to set up your connection. I messed around with the DS settings and couldn't find anything in there for setting up the connection.

Where do I find my Nintendo WFC ID?
Locate the Nintendo WFC Settings screen on the game you are playing (consult the manual for the game you are playing for more information).
Tap "Options."
Tap "System Information."
Your Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection ID will be the second item displayed.

wait, so you have to enter it in seperately for each game?

No, not from what I have read.
Only games that are Wi-fi enabled allow you to "setup" the device". Once setup it stores the settings on the DS. This is a preventitive measure to insure the DS is only being used for online when a wifi game is inserted.
There is some confusion however, but that is what I have gathered. *Might* be wrong, but I'm failry sure.

My Belkin F5D7230-4 isn't on the list (but there are setup instructions on the site).
But the Belkin 7231-4 is on the list with "compatibility problems".
I know the 7230-4 can be flashed to a 7231-4. Hope I don't have any problems.

I'm pretty excited to lay back in bed and play some Mario Kart DS, then Metroid Hunters when it comes out. No more having to sit in front of the PC monitor or TV for me. A nice break, it shall be.

Thankfully my Linksys BEFW11S4 router is on the recommended list. Another week to wait to test it out though. Animal Crossing is really the game I want to try out most online though.
I like the way Nintendo is handling their online. They look to have taken a few lessons from Microsoft with the way they are setting it up.

my Netgear router is listed as having compatibility problems.
does this mean I either have to get a new router that works with the WI-FI, or get that adapter Nintendo will be selling?

There are some people who are upset because NWC only supports WEP encryption. That works fine for me since that's what I use, but I've read some posts from people who use WPA complaining about how unsecure WEP is. One person went so far as to say that he'd buy the Nintendo USB dongle to connect instead of changing his existing wireless network to WEP.

It would be so cool if they made the touch screen into a keyboard and the other screen into a browser
