Battlefront 2 Thread

So, who else got this game yesterday?

I had higher expectations for this game. I was hoping it would be a jump similiar to Battlefield 1942 to B2. Really doesn't take long for guns to overheat, kind of annoying.

Well, I own it for XBOX and I thought it was pretty good. I did not go on LIVE yet, but will tonight probably. I thought the flying missions were a good inclusion, I just don't really like them much.

I played for PSP also, it was complete garbage...IMO. I just hate the control scheme...one analog nub is NOT good for this game no matter how they try.

I wonder if they fixed the lag problem from the first one that made it pretty much unplayable? Oh and can you fight in the old star wars universe? All the commercials show is the prequel crap.

I think you can....I thought they showed LUKE as a playable character. I like being able to control a JEDI also, that is fun. Although, I killed mine in combat...oops. (Not sure if you can play as them online though)

That is my question. I sold the first one less than a month after I bought it. I liked it, it was just way too annoying on Live, which is why I bought it in the first place.

Played a bit yesterday. Loved the force jump of the Jedi. (double tap) Hated the flying. (looks like U can skip it) Annoyed as well with the gun overheating. Didn't like the "missions," too many games with that already. Hope that Galactic Conquest and Instant Action are the same as the first. (didnt try those out yet.)

I'm sure I'll dig it since I'm a Star Wars nerd, but...thus far not blown away. Will hit it for longer tonight with some multiplayer action as well. (Live Gamertag is: JKMC Jedi)

I just picked it up, but haven't played yet. The reviews have been generally solid from what I saw. I enjoyed the first game and really did not have unplayable lag problems like some people describe, so I don't what that's about.

If you liked the first, you will love the second. Improved in every way. Playing as a Hero is awesome. You can also earn upgraded weapons and characters.

The lag is not an issue with the game itself, its all about your connection and the host of the game. I have played games that are flawless and some are almost unplayable. I will say, i have been able to find more perfect games than i could with the first one.

I picked it up and think it's better than the first one so far. The flying missions are a little weird though.

No it's not. Every other live game plays fine. Other people with 3meg connections that I know have the same lag issues. It's not a connection problem.

It's not just your connection, it has a lot to do with who's hosting. I played a 32 player game last night with zero lag.

Bought it at midnight on Monday - I like it a lot. I actually like the missions - I wasn't very good at the first BF.

I'm terrible with the playable Jedi and prefer the stock characters actually. I'm sure once I get the practice it'll be better. I also don't like the space battling, but that's just 'cause I SUCK at them.

Man, the IGN review has me worried. Not that it's so harsh, but it sounds like almost the exact same game as last year. If that's the case, I kinda doubt it's worth even my Fry's PM price of $38. Pondering returning it since I have other games to play now and still haven't picked up GTA : LCS...

Ok, I played a bit more last night....I finally found a game that had zero to little lag on LIVE. It's a little better. However, I honestly don't see myself playing it after the 22nd

PC online game play is still kinda laggy. I should have picked up Call of Duty 2 instead.

Good to know. The commercials make me want to pick it up, but if it is the same 'ol laggy shit carried over from the last game, I'm out.

Yeah, some games are laggy, others are not...it's weird. Also, another glitch, I was playing on LIVE yesterday and the sound just went out....no SFX, no music. I could hear teammates talking, but that's it....I thought it was for one round, nope continued to the next round.

The game can be fun...I always seem to lead me team in kills too, which is surprising since I think I'm just an average gamer compared to most.

If there's any doubts about getting the game you could just get the new Star Wars DVD since it has the playable demo with two levels. I got it yesterday but haven't had time to played it yet.

I had this happen to me as well. It was in splitscreen multiplayer in Jabba's Palace. Got extremely loud, then just cut out, and wouldn't come back until I shut it off and started it up again. (Reboot a Microsoft product?!?! The hell you say...)

Played a lot over the weekend. I'm liking the missions. Actually kind of sad when
Spoiler:
ya take over the Jedi Temple. The journal before, and the solemn voice as it starts saying "tonight is the fall of the Jedi..."
Nice story as well as it goes between Eps 3 and 4.

Yoda is a blast. Just keep pressing X to target a new enemy and bounce the heck around! Good stuff. Also dig the Jedi "rush" in the bigger battlefields. Just rush and press X so ya slash droids as ya run right by them.

Ok, I think I'm going to trade this in.....with the 360 on the way and Halo2 and Battlefield 2, the LIVE games are getting lost in the shuffle.

I know a lot of people are compare Battlefront vs Battlefield (since they were released around the same time). I'm still debating if I like both of these.

I find when you go to optimatch, if you wait a minute, it will show your connection quality to all the games, if you pick one with 4 or 5 bars, there should be no lag.

I hated the space battles when i first tried them because of the lag, now that I have played the space levels with no lag I'm hooked.

I'm biased because I'm a Star Wars geek, but I have never had more fun playing a game on Live. Nothing beats when you can mow down 20 guys as Yoda or Obi Wan.

I just played the demo last night and thought it was pretty good and fun. Oh the sound of Blasters! I'm still trying to control Obi Wan swinging that saber around. What's the deal witht the "targeting rectile"? I'lll target a droid and it always shoots right of the rectile.

One question about the first game. Should I try to get and play it first before this or does it matter? Or just to get a taste of "Commando" get the Republic Commando game instead?
