It's not on newsstands until Tuesday, unless you find it early.

You can't play the bass line in the demo, only the lead....

You can play the bass line in Co-Op. Sorry about not clarifying!

Lethal Nemesis 10-08-06 09:30 PM

Well, found it at my local Blockbuster. YYZ is definitely the most fun to play out of the ones on the demo. As has been said by others who already have it, HOPOs are a lot easier this time around.

Lethal Nemesis 10-08-06 09:30 PM

Oh, and Strutter is a lot of fun to play, too. It's kinda like Crossroads on steroids.

Indeed. I think that Strutter is my favorite of the demo songs at the moment. I like YYZ, but I'm not good enough at it yet to really enjoy it. Strutter has a good balance of having some interesting note patterns without being insanely hard. I've actually come damn close to 100%ing it on Expert a few times.

Unless you try to strum on those notes!

OK, I got this reply from the Wireless V people about their guitar not working with GH2:

"We are working on an adapter for it, it will be out after GH2 release, please check our website for updates, thank you"

They don't say if the adapter is free (doubtful) or what. If it isn't free I'll probably just sell it and put it towards GH2 with another controller. Do you think all the adapter will do is make it think "down" is pushed like the SG does?

Yeah, I can't quite get used to doing HOPO's, so I strum. Actually, I can't even call it strumming, I'm playing it more like a bass, but what do I know.. I'm a percussionist.

October 9, 2006 - After a year of wishlists, speculation and even a bit of "slipped" information, RedOctane has finally revealed to us the final licensed tracklist for Guitar Hero II. Totaling 40 tunes in all, spread over eight difficulty levels, the sequel to our Best Music Game of 2005 seems to have an even wider range of rock-oriented music than the first time out. From Guns N' Roses to the Police to Dick Dale, Guitar Hero II runs the gamut of rock.

Without further ado, here are the tracks you'll be rocking out to come November 7th.

1. Opening Licks
Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
Danzig - Mother
Cheap Trick - Surrender
Wolfmother - Woman
Spinal Tap - Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight

2. Amp-Warmers
Kiss - Strutter
Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box
Police - Message in a Bottle
Van Halen - You Really Got Me
Kansas - Carry on Wayward Son

3. String-Snappers
Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
Alice in Chains - Them Bones
Iggy Pop and the Stooges - Search and Destroy
Pretenders - Tattooed Love Boys
Black Sabbath - War Pigs

4. Thrash and Burn
Warrant - Cherry Pie
Butthole Surfers - Who Was in My Room Last Night
Mathew Sweet - Girlfriend
Rolling Stones - Can't You Hear Me Knockin'
Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine

5. Return of the Shred
Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name Of
Primus - John the Fisherman
Sword - Freya
Thin Lizzy - Bad Reputation
Aerosmtih - Last Child

6. Relentless Riffs
Heart - Crazy on You
Stone Temple Pilots - Tripping on a Hole in a Paper Heart
Stray Cats - Rock This Town
Allman Brothers - Jessica
Jane's Addiction - Stop

7. Furious Fretwork
Anthrax - Madhouse
Living End - Carry Me Home
Lamb of God - Laid to Rest
Reverend Horton Heat - Psychobilly Freakout
Rush - YYZ

8. Face-Melters
Avenged Sevenfold - Beast and the Harlot
Suicidal Tendencies - Institutionalized
Dick Dale - Misirlou
Megadeth - Hangar 18
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird

As for the unlockable bonus tracks, RedOctane tells us that it wants to keep those songs a secret until release as to not spoil everything for the fans. Sounds good to us, though we're certainly interested to know simply what caliber of tracks will be included. Good things come to those who wait however, and luckily we have less than a month to do so.

My PS2 is perfectly fine, just wished they would have given us users the same guitar. At least I get to play GH1 while I'm waiting for the release in Nov. :p

Wildo1966 10-11-06 02:24 PM

Hello All,
I see alot of people have the demo for GH2, is this available for free anywhere for the PS2? I can't see to find a post about where to find one. Any help would be great! Even though my hand is still numb from GH1....UGH!

Nope, the demo is on the disc that comes with the Official Playstation Magazine. Only way to get it, as far as I know, is to be a subscriber or to buy the magazine in stores.

SuperBatMan 10-11-06 07:13 PM

Isn't the 360 version coming out in 2007?

If so, I'll buy the PS2 version in a few weeks. Then, when the 360 version is out, I'll trade in the PS2 one. Guitar Hero in 5.1 surround sound=

I'm obsessed with the demo. I five star'd everything except for YYZ. The solo isn't even that impossible. And the repeated riff is comparably easy, if it really is a last-tier song. Gah! Soon...

360s that don't self-destruct after six months.

IIRC, it sits somewhere in the 7th (second to last) set.

One thing I've thought about is that the GH2 demo seems easy because I've had a TON of practice on the first game. Sure, some of the passages are tricky because they're new, but since we already know the basics of playing there isn't going to be as much of a learning curve.

I remember the same thing happening when I started playing Amplitude. I had put so many hours into Frequency that I was bored with anything but the hardest difficulty on Amplitude.

Roll the dice. I've had my 360 since launch with no problems. (knocks on wood)

Ditto.

I'll be picking up the game-only version of GHII for the PS2. I enjoyed the demo, but I wouldn't be doing enough multiplayer to justify the extra cost of a second guitar. Anyone who I'd play multiplayer with would have their own guitar controller anyway. I might do what SuperBatMan said earlier in the thread and sell my PS2 copy when the 360 version comes out, if it adds enough new stuff (new downloadable songs, wireless controller, etc).

Yeah the same thing happened to me with Amplitude. But not only was I used to the style of gameplay by then, the creators made the game a bit easier. I think the same applies here. We've gotten better, it's gotten simpler. Still fun though.

I'm waiting impatiently for some word of a release date ... It would rock if they surprised us with a release the same day as the PS2.

I highly doubt that. We would have heard by now.
