When did BLockbuster online coupons start excluding games?

I usually use my 2 Blockbuster online coupons to rent games because it costs $7.99 to rent their now. So I print my coupon and go to the store to use it, but they tell me it is for a movie only. They used to be for a movie or a game. When did this start happening?

I know all NEW subscribers are only DVD's only. I have yet to print out my new coupons, I think I renew on the 7th. I know this month it says Movie or Game on the coupon.

Does your coupon ONLY say movies now?

This would suck if true, I may switch back to Netflix after may $15/month ends.

Oh hell no. I might be back to NF very soon, if this is the case.
My last coupons specifically say "Movie or game", but I'll get new ones 11-1 or 11-2, and we'll see.

My account terms say:
"As a BLOCKBUSTER Online subscriber, you will receive monthly e-coupons to use toward free movie rentals at participating BLOCKBUSTER stores." I don't know if it said that previously, but that does not bode well.
It's not like their in-store game -- or dvd -- selection is that great anyway, but I certainly don't 'need' the coupons for a dvd when I get unlimited from the online service.

Well, it looks like NF and BBO's 2-unltd and 3-unltd plans are the exact same pricing/features, so at this point, two free in-store rentals and the relative shipping times would be the deciding factor. Re: Netflix: Would anyone actually be interested in 1 disk/time, unlimited, for 9.99/mo?

It would probably be impossible, or very difficult, but I would love to see a 'BBV/NF dataminer' database or website where we could compare their actual [claimed] inventories.

Yeah, this sucks....no more game rentals for me, if this holds true. I was really hoping to keep them since I wanted to rent XBOX360 games. I mean, it's $8 to rent a game now....

$8 a game! I haven't rented in quite some time.

I just wait until I can pick them up new or used for under $20. Usually under $15. I can keep or play any number of games as long as I want that way.

I wonder if it is because I switched to the 1 dvd out at a time $9.99 plan. Before I always got the DVD or game coupon. If I can't rent games with the coupon I will probably cancel my membership. Maybe I will reup with gamefly.

Mine still say movie or game. I'm on the 3 out 14.99 plan. I usually use both of the in store coupons for games.

Interesting....That could well be.
I would not be surprised--disappointed, but not surprised--to find out they are good for movies only on next print out. WIth games costing 7.99 each, and with the new 'late fees', I can have one game out for 26 days for no cost other than my monthly membership fee, which is less than the two games would cost to rent.
I still don't really see how a coupon for in-store rental of a dvd is a benefit though; I personally am fine with the 'queue/wait/watch/return' thing, and I'm always cycling disks so I have something--the one time I used an in-store coupon was on a newer release, which BBO skipped over four or five times in my queue, which is hardly a good thing either.

YEah, I never have issues with Blockbuster NOT shipping movies to me. They seem to have everything I want online. If they take away games, I'll be disappointed. Will I cancel? Maybe. They have been good....I get movies quickly.

My coupons for Nov, that I just got, still say 'movie or game'.
If they change, they'll probably change when my price changes, in Jan.

I just got mine too....11/4 - 12/4

They include a GAME also. I guess this just happened since you downgraded. I will use mine for 360 games this month Hopefully decide between the NBA games and possibly NHL.

I haven't gotten next month's coupons but my October ones still include games.
I couldn't find a single game to rent in October because of their horrible no late fee plan.
I have never seen a copy of NCAA2006, Resident Evil4 (1 copy!), or NBA Live 06 for PS2 in to rent.
I sometimes suspect that the guys who work there take them home until they beat them, why bother having it in stock when they don't have to?

My store usually has the games I want....no complaints. You must live in a high traffic area. Yeah, he no late fee thing kinda sucks for some people....they probably keep it for a month.

It's not only the no late fee policy, it's those monthly rental passes (which seem like a steal when compared to their "normal" game rental price of 8 bucks a pop). Although I have a hard enough time finding two games a month I want to rent for free, I can't imagine buying a pass and being forced to select from games that are 6 months old.

I was on the 3 out plan, and my recent coupons were only for movies, so I went ahead and quit this week rather than risk not getting any games again. I wasn't watching enough movies to make it worthwhile, but the 2 extra game rentals made it worthwhile, without them, I'll just buy and rent the occasional movie and use the rest of the time to catch up on my DVR recordings.

I'm one of the guilty parties--when I rent a game, I keep it close to two weeks.
I was on the gamepass for one month, and in that month I dabbled into every game they had in stock that I wanted to try. It was limited to one store, which makes it even worse--at least these coupons you can use at other stores, and I have 4 BBVs within my normal driving radius.
This month's coupons have made the fee worth it--a free game rental for 7.99 and a free PVT DVD worth 7.99. Granted it was a movie I have already seen, but hey, it's free.

PerryD: How long have you been a member? Has your price gone up? Maybe they're transitioning to 'movie rental only' to see what impact that has on their memberships?

I've only been a member for 5 months, I had downgraded from the 5 out plan to a 3 out plan (for $17.99) this past month, I'm not sure if that had caused my to lose the game rentals.

Update, just got my new coupons that expire on 12/18, and they still have games included. I have the three out for 17.99 plan.

A store representative told me that the 2 a month program allows game rentals but the 1 a week does not. Can anybody here verify so I know what plan to start?

I know awhile ago they sent me an email asking if I wanted to switch to the one a week (actually 4 a month) coupon and they specifically stated the 2/mn included games and the 4/mn was movies only. I stayed w/ the 2/mn.

Cool, Thanks.

I'll start up a 2 a month so I can get some game rentals out of this.

Hold on. There are a bunch of people who are still on the 2 a month deal (especially newer subscribers) who can only get movies. The one a week is definitely only movies, though.
