The Warriors - Who is getting it?

IGN put a review up....seems pretty darn good. I'll be picking up my pre-order at GameRush today. (I would link the review, but I cannot...at work)

They said it takes 15-20 hours....for this type of game, that's pretty long.

asianxcore 10-19-05 09:06 AM

picked it up yesterday. i like it so far.

Minted_Llama 10-19-05 09:16 AM

It's gotta be better than the movie.

No...it's not, The movie was good and so is the game...

I got it yesterday and am really enjoying it.

nickdawgy 10-19-05 02:08 PM

I also got it and am enjoying it.

Ravenous 10-19-05 02:28 PM

I really want to play this but I heard the AI is tough. Are you guys playing it on normal difficulty? Any complaints? Also, hows the combo system? Is it like old fighting games where you have to hit a perfect sequence of buttons, or like God of War/Shaoilin Monks?

I have it set on the middle/medium setting. Sometimes it can be a little hard it's not to bad.

There are some cool combos and stuff you can do. I'm actaully surprised at all the different moves there are. When you are in a rumble it gets pretty awesome and knowing the combos really does help a lot.

Yeah I'm really enjoying it and I think anyone who is a fan of the movie will love it.

DJ_Longfellow 10-20-05 06:01 AM

I'm also playing on the middle difficulty. The game is a little hard at points, but not overly tough. It's really fun though. I think I'm through 6 chapters in the story more. I think my time played was a little over 2 hours. I believe there are 23 or 24 chapters in Story Mode plus a bunch of side quests and some back-story missions also (those are optional, but tell how The Warriors became themselves). The music is good too, basically the movie soundtrack...the cheesy syth stuff. I like it!

This game is pretty fun. Definetly something to keep me occupied for a while. I'm sure once I beat it, I'll trade it back....but it's a nice break from Madden/Burnout

nickdawgy 10-21-05 07:34 AM

I just finished it. They followed the movie pretty well. I really don't see myself replaying it, though, nor playing the multiplayer. So I'll be trading it in as well.

Original Desmond 10-21-05 07:45 AM

im getting it too, one of my fav films ever and the game seems to rock too!

Wow, that was quick, how long did it take you? I think I'm on chapter 6 or 7 right now.

Did you do the side missions and flashback missions?

I've only put a few hours into it

chente 10-21-05 09:23 PM

I plan to buy it in the next couple of months. I still need to pick up X-Men Legends II first.

Yeah, did the side missions and the flashback missions. Bought it on Tuesday. Definitely the quickest I ever finished a game. Granted, I had it on easy mode, but still.

The game was great, short but a fun short.

Here at DVDTalk, you'll have lots of competition

DJ_Longfellow 10-24-05 06:04 AM

Well, I'm slowly progression through the game. Some of the levels annoyed me, but I'm finally at the "movie" part. Chapter 15.....fun game still. I hope to finish it sometime this week, and it'll be back to the trade pile.

CPA-ESQ. 10-24-05 12:42 PM

I bought it over the weekend and only played for a couple of hours. Fun Game so far.

I don't like the "tagging" thing. It just get's boring and time consuming (running out of paint etc.)

Does this continue throughout the rest of the game? or is this just on the first couple of levels?

Barney1234 10-24-05 12:57 PM

kind of a strange game to release now, isn't it? I barely remember this movie. And it wasn't even that good, if I recall.

I know there is on level....I think Chapter 13 where you have to TAG like 6 new trains. It really sucked....each tag was 3 tags also, so it was like 18 tags. Paint was plentiful though.

Last week ( or 2 weeks ago) they released The Warriors - Director's Cut.

So there is a market for the game and the movie... and there are rumblings that another movie is going to come out soon.

Yep, supposedly a REMAKE coming:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0423512/

CPA-ESQ. 10-24-05 03:55 PM

Remakes SUCK!! Is Hollywood running out of ideas.. that they have to remake and (most of the time) butcher the classics ( or cult classics)

DJ_Longfellow 10-25-05 06:32 AM

Well, I finished the game today...it was a pretty fun game. I didn't do ALL the Flashback missions, so I may go back and do that. Looks like I'll trade it in next week or sometime around then.

I rented this game, and having a fun time with it. Except for the tagging, it sucks. I don't know how many times I had to retry the contest mission, where you have to finish your tag before the others do.

Yeah I'm up to that part too. Any tips you can give me to save me some time :)

I found the contest to be easy....the spray cans each respawn in certain spots (I think it's show on the radar). Just grab the cans, spray, grab can, spray.

CPA-ESQ. 10-27-05 10:42 AM

Thanks!

I got past that part last night.

For anyone else having trouble "tagging" - Don't use a wireless controller.

I got fustrated, and decided to plug in my controller with a cord - and the tagging went as smooth as silk (the vibration on the controller was anoying) once it was done - I plugged back in my wireless controller.

1) Jump from location to location getting at least 8 spraycans.
2) Once you get the first of the cans - paint away (the rest of the gangs fight over other cans - by the time they get enough cans you will be done.)

DJ_Longfellow 10-27-05 10:45 AM

Just be prepared, there is ANOTHER tagging mission. You have about 16 tags you have to do, while cops and gang members hunt you.

Fun game, will trade in tomorrow though

CPA-ESQ. 10-27-05 02:34 PM

How much do you get for a trade?

$35 at GAmeRush :)

Definetly worth it, since I got it on the trade 2 for $30 deal (and that I finished it)

mrglass 10-30-05 08:20 AM

I picked it up on the day it was released and finished it today...being a big fan of the movie, I really loved this game. I thought the game length was perfect for someone like me who plays about an hour or so everyday (maybe a little more on the weekends). The only mission that I truly hated was that second tagging level...my poor CPU partner took a beating trying to protect me while I finished all of those big assed tags.

Even though I beat it, this one is a keeper. Throwing people off of rooftops in one of the rumble modes never gets old. Plus, the mini-game unlocked at the completion of the game is awesome.
Spoiler:
It's a side-scrolling, Double Dragon clone...right down to the Griffs leader punching Mercy in the gut, slinging her over his shoulder, and carting her away to start the first level.

This comes out tomorrow on psn for $10. Considering new copies go for crazy high prices it's a good deal. Gonna watch the movie on HD-DVD for the first time tomorrow :)

This is one of my favorite under the radar titles from that generation. For $10.00 I'll definitely grab it again.
