Anyone Picking up SSX : On Tour
I loved Trickey and SSX 3 (both on GC) and was wondering if anyone had picked up SSX: On Tour? It looks good and has been getting pretty good reviews.
Anyway, I would love to hear if it's on par with the previous releases.
Thanks,

It's out already? I haven't seen any commercials, previews, or nothing. I'll certainly pick it up soon as it has never let me down. When they started coming out with one every year and a half of so I thought it was going to turn into a Madden-esque thing, but those EA Big folks really know how to deliver a great game.
Can anyone tell me if the game plays as well on the X-Box as it does on the PS2? I mean as far as the combos.

I got it - FWIW, it's only $39.
It's not an expansion like Tricky - it's a whole new game and a whole new mountain with a bunch of new tracks. It's still pretty much the same game (which is a good thing), but it also feels really "been-there/done-that". Though in addition to snow-boarding, you can now ski - which I haven't tried yet.
I don't like the tracks as much as the ones in SSX3 (so far) - the track in SSX3 had a coolness and grandure to them that are missing in these new tracks - but maybe they get better later on...
The menus are some of the coolest I've ever seen, but I hate the music/soundtrack (except for the intro, wich is Iron Maiden's Run to the Hills - awesome choice), and you can't use Xbox's custom soundrack feature.
Anyways, it's fun so far, but I'm not nearly as into it as I was with SSX3.

After playing more over the weekend, it seems like EA's tried to turn SSX into Burnout.
The way the Tour works is similar to Burnout where you clear different little objectives one by one as you progress and build your stats. It's sort of piecemeal in that they throw all sorts of objectives at you throughout various sections of the mountain, with little rhyme or reason. There are races where you have to "crash" into your competition. There are now also random skiers on the hill, and your rewarded for near misses and such. Also like the new Burnout, the tracks have many alternate paths in them.
Anyways, the more I play it, the more fun it gets - so if you're on the fence, go ahead and get it.

I played it briefly on the PSP. It seemed like a decent handheld game. Only played like one race though, so not sure how good it really is. Seems like fun though, although I have played SSX in a while.
