I'm having the same problem playing horde on Durotar. I'm almost level 30, and haven't been able to do any dungeons yet, because I can't find anyone to group up with.

I find it a problem for my horde characters. My solution is to quest as alliance, and play battlegrounds as horde.

One tip is you should join all the relevant Lookingforgroup channels. Don't just ask in your current location, also join the IF/Ogr channel, plus the inside the instance channel

Can someone explain how battlegrounds works for me? I'm level 29 now, and have mostly just ignored that part of the game. However, I have done the capture the flag one twice. I thought I understood what was going on, until the end of the second round. I was on the horde side, and it was tied 2-2. I was around our home base, when I saw one of our guys come running up to the base with the blue flag. Great, I thought, we're going to win! But instead of going and putting the flag in our base, the guy takes a right turn and goes and hides in the bushes. I asked him "What are you doing?" He said he was hiding the flag. When I asked him why, he called me a NOOB. So the game goes on for another 10 minutes or so, and this guy is just hanging out in the bushes with the flag. Eventually the other team gets our flag, and we lose. So what is this whole "hide the flag" strategy? How does that help us?

Also, I've tried to get into the other battleground match (I think it's called althari basin or something... it's about gathering resources) but it doesn't seem to let me in. I can join a queue, but there is no instance going on, so I never get in.

For those looking for an atlas, there's a great mod called Atlas (ironic eh?) that has all the maps for the instances ingame. Definitely comes in handy.

A question from a horde noob. How do you get to Swamp of Sorrows or the Badlands without going through Darkshire or Loch Modan? I've mostly played Alliance and this is my first horde toon so I'm a bit puzzled on how I'd get to those two zones without going through Alliance territory.

Well, the only reason why you would wanna hide the flag that I can think of is when the opposition also has your flag. Warsong Gulch has basically 2 objectives, get their flag and safeguard your own. So if you have their flag and they have yours, it's a stalemate til one of the sides can theirs back. So you would wanna hide to make it harder for the opposition to get their flag back and hope to hell that your offense will returns yours back to your base so you can score.

But it sounds like your flag was still at your base when you had their flag, so I'm not exactly sure what happened here.

I also find it kinda funny your teammate called you a noob while in a low level BG. That's lame.

Some overconfident people like to get more honor kills before ending the match... That's just showboating...

Impossible to do, why are you worried about going through those areas though? Those two zones are where low level alliance are anyway.

I hit 60 on saturday with my Troll Rogue, so I was pretty happy about that. I also tried Alterac Valley out for the first time ever and it's pretty cool. It's definitely my favorite battleground so far, although it can take forever to finish. I've gone through four times now, one took 2 hours, one took 2 1/2 hours, one took 3 1/2 hours and I quit one after 3 1/2 hours. I've heard of those going on for a super long time, like 6 hours which is pretty ridiculous. OUt of the four times I've been in there horde won three times, and should have won the last one but they went stupid all the sudden, but I had to go anyway. One good thing about playing for so long is the amount of HK's and bonus honor you get. I think I got around 14000 honor for those four times in there. That ought to get my sgt back (after I let it depreciate because I was concered with lvling) or possibly get me past it.

Now that I'm 60 I guess it's time to start farming for a set and helping my guildies level up.

Good job on hitting 60. After I hit 60 I joined a semi-endgame guild (endgame instances and just beginning MC) and was running UBRS, LBRS, UD Strat for my devout/dreadmist set. Thankfully I was able to get most of the equipment I needed quickly and then moved on to MC and ZG. I then joined one of the top 3 guilds on the server and have been exclusively running MC and Blackwing Lair. It's gotten pretty boring lately as we just farm MC (rarely wipe on any of the bosses) over 2 nights and have beaten 4 bosses in BWL. I did win the eye of Divinity (used for priest epic staff) so I need to go farm eye of shadow and finish up the quest to complete. Also been spending sometime in AB but only as a guild now as Holy/Disc priests don't fair too well in PUGs without someone watching out for them. I've been toying with the idea of giving up the game till some new content comes out.

Info on the upcoming 1.9 patch. My favorite part, linked auction houses! woohoo!
Planned for launch in patch 1.9, players will discover that they can buy and sell goods with greater effectiveness using the highly anticipated Linked Auction House System. Horde players will find that the Auction Houses in Orgrimmar, Undercity, and Thunder Bluff will now share the same pool of player-created auctions. Similarly, Alliance players will find the same to be true when visiting Ironforge, Stormwind City, and Darnassus Auction Houses. This system has been expanded to support the neutral Auction Houses as well. Tanaris, Everlook, and Booty Bay will all be linked for players of both factions to access. In addition, the "Looking for Group" and "Trade" channels have been unified among the corresponding cities, meaning you can trade your goods or look for groups in Ironforge while in Stormwind!

I didn't realize there was an auction house outside of IF and Tanaris

There isn't. I think it's just poorly worded. There isn't an auction house in the undercity or thunder bluff yet either.

I'm just exciting I won't have to go all the way over to ogrimmar to sell crap anymore!

I wonder what the added auction houses will do to the crowds. I bet a lot of people will just hand outside the bank in IF just because they're used to it. IF is the best designed alliance city so lots of people will probably still end up there.

I sure hope it helps move the crowds out to the other cities. That's why I always hated going to ogrimmar, there was always a good chance I'd get booted because there were too many people there. And anyway, the Undercity is always such a lonely place

The fact that IF is a stones throw away from Thorium Point (and subsequently UBRS, MC, BWL, BRD) and the closest major city to Strat and Scholo I don't think people will be moving anytime soon.

Which large cities can you not ride a mount in? Undercity? Thunder Bluff? Booty Bay? is that it?

I really like that Auction Houses will be linked at all major cities now, but I suspect that Orgimmar will still have a lot of people and Undercity will get an increase in use, but Thunder Bluff probably won't see much use. Of course there are exceptions, and I could be completey wrong but I'm so used to going to Org I suspect a lot of other are as well, and Undercity is a good place to be if you are doing anything on that continent.

One of the coolest features to me was the face that you can enter into multiple battleground queues. I think this will ensure more running battlegrounds, and allow people to get a reputation with different factions more easily. Quoted for your viewing pleasure:

Players will be able to enter multiple battleground queues! No longer must you make the hard decision of which queue to join -- when queued for all three, you can join the first one available or hold out for that special Battleground you're really seeking.
With all that said, when is 1.9 expected to be released?

I thought the multiple AH's were going to be included in the expansion. Oh well, so much the better for us.

Undercity. It's the only major city on both factions where you can't mount and it's damn annoying.

No mount in Booty Bay either but that's different since it's alot smaller.

Well I got to experience the joys of playing on a PvP server last night. I was on Uther(PvE) and some friends and I decided to leave and try out a PvP server and a server that had a good balance of Horde/Alliance. So we moved to Dark Iron. Good server so far and the BG wait time isn't nearly as bad as it was on Uther.

So we're doing quests out in Westfall and the one we're doing is the Defias Brotherhood quest which is the pain in the ass one where it takes you on delivery missions to Lakeshire, then to Stormwind, then back to Westfall and so on. We get to the part where you have to escort the Defias Traitor to Moonbrook and everything is going smoothly and he's just about to enter the hideout when out of nowhere a horde rogue unstealths and kills the messenger thus ending our quest. This pisses us off, of course, so we start attacking the Rogue who I'm guessing was level 50-60 because he wiped the 4 of us out pretty quickly, mind you we were only level 16-17. So we laugh it off and head back out and try again and AGAIN the horde rogue kills the messenger. We try this a total of 4 times before we finally said "F-it" and moved on to doing other quests.

Ya know I probably should expect shit like this is going to happen. That's what you get when you play on a PvP server and you got people on there who gotta prove their e-penis is bigger than yours by knocking you down, even though they got 50 levels on you and you don't stand a chance.

A horde dude could kill the messenger on a PvE server as well.

Ok.....never seen it happen on a PvE server. I always thought NPCs in a NON-Contested area on a PvE server were unattackable by both Horde or Alliance. Guess I was wrong.

So you leave to join a more balanced server, yet you still roll Alliance.

Personally the worst I have experienced was when I first started playing in May, when Crossroads was a constant battlefield. I was always frustrated because I always thought I forgot where to turn in quests. Turns out that about half the time the quest giver was dead and I had to wait for him to respawn. Keep in mind that unlike the Alliance where there are 3 separate zones where the low levels can go, Horde is almost forced to play the Barrens from level 8-25.
