Nightmare Before Christmas for consoles
Hadn't seen it mentioned, so I thought I'd bring it up. Buena Vista's putting out a Nightmare Before Christmas game for ps2 and Xbox. Ships in October, and looks to be a bit more (gasp!) family oriented action-platformer. So old men like me with kids might be able to enjoy it without my wife having to extract my 2-year-old from the gameroom:-) Big bonus is that the in-game animation looks like stuff right from the movie and it's using the Devil may Cry engine.
Previews are here and here . Kind of a nice tie-in since Corpse Bride is hitting theaters soon.

I got a copy a few days back and sank a few hours into it. It's a bit like a stripped down Devil May Cry (actually running on the same engine). It's a good family game, since there's no blood or gore, and the only weapon is the soul robber, which is like one of those sticky frog tongue toys (remember those? you'd whip 'em at a piece of paper and they'd snag it?). You can grab baddies and smash 'em around, or do spin moves, taunts and combos. Like most beat 'em ups, you string together crazy combos for cool visual moves and big points.
The story's pretty straightforward - it's a year after the movie storyline, Oogie Boogie was resurrected and has ruined Halloween Town. You have to hunt him down and defeat his minions. You explore various parts of the town beating up bad guys, collecting power ups and beating up more bad guys.
Outside of the combat are "dance challenges", which I haven't gotten to yet. It's meant to keep with the musical spirit of the movie, (all that groovy music) so I'm hoping to run into it soon and decide if I like it (the dancing) or not. Speaking of the music, it's based on the stuff from the movie, so it's pretty clever and enjoyable. The in-game sounds and voice work get a bit stale, but thankfully the music covers for that.
Anyhow, it might not be for hardcore gamers, but those fans of the movie, or us old folks with kids in the house, it's worth checking out.

That's good to hear. It's been getting pretty poor reviews. I've been looking forward to it, but I'll wait till I can find it for
