I'll keep it closed until I beat the game, of course.. but it'll be great for a second play-through. Still hoping for a weather day tomorrow.. I've got to be at the end of this now.. I mean, I just HAVE to be.

Still haven't opened it either.

Actually the guide is more of an Atlas if anything. It will tell you places of interest in each city you visit but it doesn't spoil the story for you. I've been using it for character building purposes because they have a section in the front of the guide for each Character telling you the abilities/spells you get for each skill and how many points you need for them. It helps with the distribution of the skill points so I know which abilities I want to shoot for first. For a lengthy game such as this one I want to make sure I don't miss anything the first time through because chances are there won't be a second time. So, the guide for me is a must.

Yeah the guide is great, and it doesn't spoil things. It says stuff like "Perhaps you could find a way to make the ________ open up if you tried enough"
The game is on sale at Circuit City for $39.99 (Best Buy has it for regular price)
The guide is indeed on sale at Best Buy for $12.99, though.

Just saw this on Slime Knights..
"Everybody going nuts over the Valkyrie Profile 2 announcement failed to notice the far more critically important announcement contained in the magazine, which is of a game in the works called Dragon Quest Yangus, supposedly a side story game. Nothing else has been stated about it, but hot damn."

Well, where you are now.. in the light version there should be some pretty big monsters there and once you are able to fly you can find some good monsters in areas only accessible with flight. If you found the Cure Slime he's pretty useful but I found him to be a crap shoot. You're realistically down to two monsters at that point and he doesn't seem to heal intelligently all the time.. If you make it past Rank A there's another couple of previous Dragon Quest surprises!
