Controller held on one hand while attachment in other? Hmm, gotta see a picture to totally understand that. Controller acts like mouse in 3D space; that sounds wild.

* Revolution controller looks like futuristic television remote.
* Glossy white design.
* Looks Apple iPod inspired.
* Controller is held in one hand. Attachments in the other.
* Attachments connect to the bottom of the controller. Iwata shows analog stick attachment.
* Thinking about packing Revolution with the main controller and attachment, Iwata says.
* Controller acts like a mouse in real-space 3D. Pefect for FPS games!
* Future attachments planned.

Wow, this is an absolutely terrible idea from the shots I'm seeing so far. Analog stick in one hand and a one button controller in the other. Exactly what kind of FPS can you play with one button? Are you suppose to use the digital pad? How the hell do you play N64 games with this crap.

Okay, seeing the button on the bottom it makes a LOT more sense.

Developers seem excited.
I'm getting a DS vibe in that I'll need to use it to believe it.
"Nintendo has long been a trailblazer, and this controller design reinforces that reputation," said Brian Farrell, president and CEO of THQ. "We enthusiastically support Nintendo's next console because we believe their approach of continual innovation is very much in line with our own strategy of creating unique and innovative games for the next generation of hardware."
"What we're seeing from this controller is the same thing we saw with Nintendo DS," said Chuck Huebner, Head of Worldwide Studios, Activision.. "It's a system that's designed with an eye on enticing new players to the video game industry, and that's something we firmly support."
"Game control is essential - it's the area where perhaps the most game-play improvement can be made," said John Schappert, Sr. Vice President and General Manager of Electronic Arts Canada. "While our portfolio represents a full array of titles across all genres, I think our sports titles might be the first to immediately take advantage of what this novel 'freehand' type of control has to offer."
"We were among the first publishers to see the control design in action," said Serge Hascoet, Chief Creative Officer of Ubisoft. "We're excited about the new controller and are looking forward to taking advantage of its innovative aspects."

The analog controller has two buttons as well.
Hmm, don't know what to think about this one. A very, very odd move. No way you can play N64 or Super Nintendo games with the stuff shown so far. NES will work though by turning the remote sideways it looks.
This system has pretty much guaranteed no next gen ports for the Revolution. With the limited buttons and motion control everything for the Revolution will have to be specially made.
Looks like something again designed 100% for the Japanese market. I think it will do well there, but it has disaster written all over it in the US.

Very very very strange. Move by moving the controller in full3d? Could be very good or very bad. Full article on Gamespot.

I hope they release a standard type controller for fighting games and things like that. Plus, they don't have enough buttons it seems for SNES or N64 games.

I'm stumped how major titles like Resident Evil 5 or Madden could be brought over to Revolution though unless the Wavebird works with Revolution titles.

The Revolution will have four standard controller ports for Gamecube controllers. They have already stated that these will work for any new Revolution games that want to stick to a traditional controller. So you've got both the old and new way to play games.

Huge relief then. Although I wish they would make a new controller with better analog sticks and D-pads.

Weird. Wonder how long we have to wait to see actual software.

If utilized, Nintendo's challege will be to make this process seemless and intuitive to the user.

I, on the other hand, will be buying a Revolution the day they go on sale and I can't wait to get my hands on this. I'm glad the controller looks simple, the last thing I needed was more buttons to get confused. One thing Nintendo has done well is design games to work well with their controllers (and thats why I'm getting this thing in the first place).
I think it would have been all kinds of cool if they had a single dedicated port for an N64 controller as well. I know thats a bit a pipe dream and the GC controller will work well with those games, but still...it would have been cool.

I will most likely be buying this on release as well, but I would have to see some actual software before I could completely decide that. It will most likely be the only system I buy at launch this time around.

Since I've decided to pass on the 360, I've been waiting for more info on the PS3 and Revolution. I though the PS3 controller was a bit wonky withthe whole batarang look, but wow, that Nintendo controller looks terrible. I'm big into FPS games and don't see how you could really control them very well with that.. Those buttons are too far apart to be practical.
But, it could prove to be really great. Looks like I'll be skipping all the launches, which would be a first for me. I'll wildefinately have to try before I buy for this gen.
