XBOX Live Routers

There is an older thread about this but it only had 2 posts so there was no real use is raising that one from the dead.

Anyway.....today I took my XBOX in and traded it in for store credit toward my 360. Over the past few weeks I've had a number of connection issues so I figured while I was without an XBOX I would unhook my router and see if it was the cause of all my problems.

It was. My D-Link DI-604 router doesn't seem to be very reliable most of the time and some times it doesn't work at all. I do have some time to shop around for a newer router but I want suggestion. I'm glad that is choose now to die instead of waiting until I already got my 360.

So far I am learning toward Linksys BEFSR41. It seems to be compatible and a decent price.

It's a good router, but at $49.99 that pretty high. I got a linksys(Cisco) wireless G router for 39.99(Not the speedbooster ver). The wired models were coming in
at any from $9.99 to 29.99. I say keep looking at such sites as Officemax, Office depot and Fye or Bestbuy. The price of $49.99 is just to high for me.

I have a wireless D-Link DI-624 and I'm thinking about getting a new one too. I actually get a lot of drops on my HARDWIRED PC that is connected to the router. Not sure why. I've upgraded firmware and everything. Things are better lately...but still get the message that i'm disconnected.

I may go Linksys too...they seem to have better reliability.

Yeah, that's a bit pricy.

I've had a wired linksys and currently use a wireless linksys and have had excellent results in general and with Xbox Live.

I picked up a Motorola WR850G router at Target last weekend on clearance for $24.98 (YMMV). I haven't got a wireless connector for my Xbox yet, but it also has 4 wired ports. I have used it wirelessly with my PSP and it has worked fine so far.

Thanks for the help folks.

It seems I will have to go with a Linksys router but I just want to get the lowest end model that is LIVE compatible. Seems I have some online price comparisons to do.

I did e-mail D-Link last night and they gave me the proper order in which to reset and reboot everything. I'm pretty sure I did every possible combination but I'm going to try it their way before tossing the thing out.
