From: United States of HELL YEAH!!!
I just downloaded the demo for this. Really like it, but I can't stand the controls. Shaking my mouse and pressing the arrow keys as fast as I can don't seem like the right way to do it. I'd much rather have a general action key.
But the music and story is incedible.

Did anyone actually like the storyline to this game? I finally picked it up last week for $20, and I finished it yesterday. Personally, I didn't think it was worth even $20. I was hugely dissapointed in the game.
It started out being excellent. It had an awesome film noir/crime mystery atmosphere, but halfway through it turned into really stupid sci-fi crap.
I did really like most of the gameplay such as the multiple pathways you could take and being able to control both the murder suspect and the detectives. The game had serious potential, but the crap storyline really ruined it for me. The story is the most important part for adventure/dialogue-intensive games such as this.

2+ year bump
Just finished this. Never heard of it (was completely off my radar, even though it was right up my alley), but a recommendation from another thread prompted me to pick it up. $20 for the uncut version at Direct2Drive.
I find myself agreeing with the mostly positive consensus. The storyline is excellent, and I really like the game's creator is trying to make video games that blur the line between other media (like films), trying to use the interactive nature of games to create a richer emotional involvement.
I didn't find the gameplay that difficult at "medium" settings. It took me a few tries at the Simon mini-game to get the hang of where my fingers should go. After that, I breezed through it. Didn't appreciate having my keyboard get put through hell for the button mashing minigames, though. And I'm not convinced the Simon minigame was really an improvement over more traditional action-oriented game controls. I had to visually focus on the colors, and pretty much missed what was going on in those scenes - I only knew that I didn't die. The mouse-tracing minigames were kind of trivial (except for a couple of trickier climbing activities). I like that it made you feel like you were doing something with ordinary activities, and how the conversations were done making you feel like you had to think along with the character in real-time. The lack of saving anywhere annoyed me at first, but the game auto-saved so often it was a complete non-issue.
I finished the game in about 8 hours ... and that seems way too short for a full-size game (especially one without an online mode). The storyline got a little weak in the last 3rd. (beware of major spoilers)
Glad I got the uncensored version. Even though none of it was critical for gameplay, I just hate experiencing the censored version of anything. [rant]I don't really get the American game rating system. Compared to movies, it seems far more restrictive concerning sex/nudity and far more lax concerning gore/violence. There's nothing in here that wouldn't get more than an "R" rating if it was a movie (some toplessness, a couple of non-explicit love scenes). Shouldn't the "M" rating (which the censored version got) be able to have the content of an "R" movie? Why should pixelized boobs be worse than filmed boobs?[/rant]
Anyone know what the 3 endings are? Mine was
I'm not sure what other kinds of endings there could be.
But overall I did like the game, and found it worth the money. Reminds me of "Dreamfall", being story-heavy, cinematic, and trying to blend traditional adventure with action. I'll certainly keep an eye out for anything by the same guy, or games trying to do similar things.

I really liked this game when I played it a year or two ago for my PC. Yeah the plot got a little absurd, but the first three quarters were phenomenal. One of the better adventure games I've played. The conversation system was great, and even though they were ugly polygons, I still felt for the characters.

Since I just finished Heavy Rain and am currently waiting for Beyond: Two Souls, I want to give this game a shot. It's pretty cheap over at Amazon but I keep reading about a director's cut. I know it was cut for the US on the PS2 and the Xbox? Was it likewise cut on PC? If so, are all the UK versions of the PC the director's cut? Or must I specifically hunt ofr a version of the game that is called Fahrenheit: Director's Cut?

Yeah, I heard about the Simon-esque interface. Although I did like Simon as a kid, is it really that aweful?

Re: Indigo Prophecy
So it's just nudity and sex scenes that differentiate the two? Meh. I can live without that as long as the story is left intact.

Re: Indigo Prophecy
There's like one "polygonal chick on a table stripping" scene that was a Bonus Scene type thing, and the other cut is a really flexible sex scene late in the game.
