I think the preorder 1 for $30 deal ends on Halloween

Rumour has it that starting soon they will be doing the trade 2 get ANY game for 30 (not just preorder) deal again.

Yep, I heard that too....I'll try to update the 1st post when I get details.

Also, TRU has Dead To Right II for $10 right now....plus, buy 2 get 1 free. XBOX version trades in $27, PS2 $19. I picked those up today along with Tron. $21 turned into $58 credit. Then, I pre-ordered KING KONG for XBOX, which I will switch to the 360 version eventually

Sucks you got banned. How many copies did you trade in? I traded in 2 copies for XBOX, 1 for PS2. However, my 2 for XBOX were like a month apart. I don't think I'll get banned at all....If I do, that would suck, but I doubt it. They like me there. I get to pick up my 2 pre-orders this week....yeah BattleField and GTA (PSP)

I never traded in more than one copy of anything, but the manger felt the games used for my last two trades were too cheap and that I had bought them cheap somewhere and traded them in to take advantage of the $29.99 preorder deal. The fact they all qualified at $8 didn't matter. It all came down to the fact he thought I was cheating. They need no proof to ban you. Its all up to the manager and it sounds like you have a good one at your store.

Wow, I would be upset.....thats sounds shady on the managers part. You violated nothing....oh well. I just hope they stay in business long enough for me to get ll my games I have on pre-order

You should call that store and ask for the number of the district manager, I am sure that if you explain the situation to him, he will reinstate your account.

From what I heard another guy that got his account suspended at the same store did just that and caused a pretty ugly scene in the store. He apparently had a lot of store credit still left on the account as well. Apparently the store manager Sam suspended him with out any real proof the guy was cheating. I still don't understand how Sam can know how much I paid for games I traded in if I bought them somewhere else, but if he sees a game on clearance somewhere he remembers it and gets angry if someone trades that title in. What DJ is doing at TRU for trades is exactly the thing people are being banned for even though they have no way of knowing for sure you got the games cheap like that. He assumed you just went and bought it somewhere cheap to steal money from him. I've seriously thought about talking to a DM as well, but I just don't like the idea of giving money to a store manager like that when I can just take my business to a different store.

Well, go to the cheapa$$gamer website, and you'll see why managers can be wary of scams. Plus, what DJ is doing is exactly what this manager is trying to prevent. Now if you only traded in one copy of the title, I don't think you should be banned. But if you trade in multiple copies, or different versions of the same game, especially if those are mentioned in that forum thread, I can see their justification. Even if you trade them in months apart... it's still fishy. And banning scammers can only help them stay afloat longer, maybe even turn a profit and encourage them to keep the deals up. IMHO.

Or better yet, they could update the trading rules so that everyone knows what will get them banned.

Yeah, I know I felt a little guilty trading in 2 copies of the same game. But I follow the rules. There was a guy on CAG who traded in like 18 copies of a game....now that is just crazy.

Yeah, but it would be nice if they gave you an outline of things that get you banned. The employees push for trades of any kind when you go in there because they have quotas for preorders and trades each month and then the managers get upset with frequent traders.

I totally agree if I was dumping multiples on them to cash in I should get banned, however, it was just about the individual games being old. Its not my fault they gave me $8 each for Def Jef and the last years WWE game. Those should have been excluded from the trade in deal if they were a problem for the store to resell.

True. Like I said, if you trade in a single copy, even of crappy games, and they don't have an exclusion list like everyone else, then that should be fine. It's when people start hoarding copies of crap games like Nightmare of Druaga just for flipping and taking advantage of the system that red flags should come up. And banning people from trading too much is ridiculous, as they already have some kind of daily cap on it.

Ive traded multiple copies before, the reason? Ive traded my stuff along with family members stuff. Ive traded my cousins games before on my account so he can get in on the deal without registering to BBV. Weve both had the same games in our collection and Ive traded in copies of mine along with his. I hope I dont get banned as I have 2 preorders and about $15 credit.

I preordered Zelda last night, they told me it was due on 11/18. I would have preordered something else, but I honestly cannot think of another game I want that isnt on a next gen system... and I have no idea when Ill get one of those.

All this talk of what traders should and shouldn't do/be allowed to do, yet there's one easy solution...

It's well known that Blockbuster execs know of cheapassgamer's existence, yet there's no immediate adjustment of trade-in values when a "deal" gets publicized there. Anybody literate in English can quickly decipher that Toys R Us, for example, is selling Xbox Dead to Rights II for $10, while Game Rush hands out $27 in credit for it... a $10 investment basically pays for a $50 preorder, thanks to their current promotion.

What do they expect? So anybody, like darkside, can be at risk of a store manager's whim to ban you just because one naturally takes advantage of a deal that's almost too good to be true? Pure silliness. If police acted this way, it would be called entrapment.

So has anyone gotten GTA for the PSP from a Gamerush yet?

Even Best Buy didn't have them out today so I wouldn't worry. I think Game Rush would be fools not to stock a GTA game.

No, I preordered it and the guy said they might not get any, and it was some kinda company thing. With blockbuster having to pay upfront with cash to most of their suppliers (see thread in the store forum), I'm not sure if this is a bad sign. This is THE PSP game of the year, and if they can't get this in stock it's really, really bad.

I have yet to receive my GTA(PSP) from GameRush (or my Battlefield 2 for XBOX). If they don't have them today, I will cancel and switch to a 360 game (for $10 more).

Oh, man. Yeah if that is the reason this is a very bad sign. If Blockbuster can't get that game there is no telling how many titles will fall through.
