So - I won an Xbox...
I was at Microsoft Tech-Ed last week in Orlando, and they were giving away an Xbox a day. You had to fill out a scavenger hunt type of quiz (you had to look up the answers on-line). Since you had to be present to win, I thought I had a pretty good chance. At 3:00 Thursday afternoon, I went to the Exchange Server Cabana. Only about 10 or 15 people showed up for the drawing, so I was optimistic. They had to call 10 names before they got to me, but I was the first name to be drawn among those present. They'll ship it to me, and knowing Microsoft, it will probably arrive pretty quickly.
I've had a PS2 since the launch, and have been pretty happy with it. I know I'll want to get the HD component cable adapter thingie for my HD set.
My question to you, my Xbox mavens is this:
What are some must-have games that fit these criteria?
I've got a friend that will lend me his Halo and Halo 2, so I'm covered there. They were demo-ing Jade Empire at the conference, and that looked pretty cool, so that's fairly high on my list. I'm also thinking about Revenge of the Sith
, as well.

- Good HD support - The PS2 is lacking in that department
- I tend to like Ghost Recon/Socom types of games (though I was very disappointed with GR on the PS2 platform)
- DD sound support. If I've got HD video, I want immersive sound.

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 is some of the best gaming I've enjoyed in quite a while. I know the WWII FPS genre has been done to death, but this game is spectacular. The in-game Dolby Digital is excellent, filling your room with the firing of rifles, whizzing bullets, and the pounding explosions of mortar shells.
It's a game for which I didn't mind paying full price, yet I've seen it as low as $29.99 several times over the past couple of months. Highly recommended.

- Ghost Recon 2 (XBOX kills the PS2 version)
- GTA:SA (Haven't played PS2 version...but this is my new crack for XBOX)
- Black Hawk Down (if you want 50 player LIVE support...comes out soon)
- MX vs ATV supports 1080i (decent racing game)
JUST get XBOX LIVE.....best thing ever for consoles

I picked up KOTOR II the other day at BB, but I'm still waiting for the XBox to arrive.
I also got the HD AV cable kit. Everything is all wired into the receiver and TV, and I've cleared an area in the cabinet for the console. Now I just wait.
Anybody have any thoughts on Rainbox Six Lockdown? That looks pretty cool.

Woo-hoo!
I just received the XBox, and they also included the XBox Live starter kit (with 12 month sub/headset/Crimson Skies).
However, today is my wedding anniversary, so I think it would be prudent to wait until tomorrow to play with it.

You'll love both the KOTOR and the Jade Empire franchise. Some of the best RPG's I've ever played. I just finished up Jade finally last week with the way of the open palm, and the neutral ending, and have played thru KOTOR lightside and darkside, and KOTOR II only lightside. Some other games I'd recommend: Both Rainbow Sixes, GR Island Thunder (blows GR2 out of the water IMO), XMen Legends, and Links. All of the above short of Jade Empire are cheap.

psychonauts was a great platform game if you like some humor and like level design and eye candy. Xbox library is weak, best games ive played are ninja gaiden, burnout 3 and fight night 2.
Im a pc guy though , not a console guy, the best thing to do with an xbox is drop a mod chip in that bad boy, drop a bigger hdd in it, then live the emulation dream. Play MAME and EMU all the old consoles to your hearts content. Xbox media center is also very cool.

Based on the input in this thread, I've also picked up Rainbow Six 3, Jade Empire, and got Brothers in Arms pretty cheap at Target last night. Now I just have to find some time to play.
