Truly, excellent work. Makes me want to buy an X-Box 360 on launch day.

Thanks for the info on the Xbox 360.
It will make it easier for me when the time comes as to which to next gen system to buy. Now is anybody willing to do this for the PS3 and Nintendo Revolution. ;) |

http://media.teamxbox.com/dailyposts...dimensions.jpg Edit: Isn't the original Xbox something like 12x4x10? Doesn't that make the 360 bigger? Edit2: For comparison, the PS2 is 12 x 3-1/8 x 7-1/4 inches. Edit3: Fixed original Xbox specs. The 360 is actually the pretty much the same size in horizontal footprint, just not as tall. |

Edited to add: Unless you stand your 360 on its edge, of course. ;) |
nice work in putting this together thanks!

The dimensions posted by joshd were grabbed from TeamXbox so we're all still speculating. |
Its official. Check out the xbox.com spec sheet for 360:

Had the Slim PS2, 360 and PS2 standing vertically side by side. 360 was a few inches taller than the slim PS2, and a couple inches or so shorter than the PS2. |
How many people really care what the size of a console is anyway? As long as it fits my AV rack, i.e. is DVD/VCR player or smaller and doesn't weight more than my reciever, it's all good.

But I think it's a non-issue from the pic flay posted, the 360 should fit since it's a couple inches narrower. |
To be fair, I dont think that pic shows the hard drive on it. Thats probably an extra 1.5"?
|
Doh!
Maybe it's inside now since they decided to go with only one model with an HDD, rather than one with and one without (that you could buy and add-on)? |
Although I can't find it now, one of the gaming mags (EGM, Gamepro, etc) had in their artlicle that the 360 will not be backward game compatable. For me this is a key reason I would buy this system.

That "inhale" really does a nice job of making the unit look smaller then it is. I always despised the convexing of the current xbox, thought it made it look bigger too.

The 360 will have limited backwards compatibility. Only certain games will be supported--full details aren't available yet on how this will work or what games will be supported. But I agree, it's a big deal for me as well. Especially with the PS3 being compatible back to the PS1 and the Revolution with the GC and downloads of N64, SNES and NES games. |
I bet they will have the WHOLE xbox ctalog AVAILABLE for backwards compatability and have them online for download to allow you to play specific titles (for a price) but of course the 360 would come with the most popular ones already installed on the machine. Thats my theory.

I think the issue with backward compatability would be the differences in the ATI vs Nvidia video drivers of the old and new system.
