Old Sierra Quest games
Hey guys. Is anyone here into the old Sierra "Quest" PC games?
Kings Quest
Space Quest
Police Quest
Leisure Suit Larry
I was thinking it would be fun to play these again. Does anyone know of a source to download them. As far as I know, it's not illegal since Sierra has abandoned them.
Thanks.

I second AGDInteractive.
They did one hell of a job with King's Quest 1 & 2. New graphics, score, animation, and voiceovers! Played them both about 3 months ago and brought back some great memories.

speaking of these games, how I get them to work on XP, I had no problems on W98SE but they won't even install on XP
I have the following collections:
Police Quest & Swat 2
King's Quest
Space Quest
Quest for Glory
Gabriel Knight
Leisure Suit Larry , Love for Sail
help I wanna play them
Sierra was just awesome, I can't believe they're gone

All the early Sierra games are written in AGI (Adventure Game Interpreter) - King's Quest 1-3, Space Quest 1 & 2, etc. NAGI is kind of like a Sierra game emulator. It's the basic Sierra game engine rewritten for modern PCs, you just need the original data files from the games to play them in NAGI. It plays the games perfectly with mouse support, full screen or windowed, and it even emulates the PCjr's 3 channel sound so it'll probably sound much better than you remember (unless you played them on a PCjr, then it will sound the same of course).
SCI is Sierra's more advanced game interpreter software. It's what King's Quest 4 and Space Quest 3 are written in. FreeSCI is a little more difficult to use than NAGI, but it does work very well once you figure it out.
Both NAGI and FreeSCI are freeware and open source, so just Google them and you shouldn't have any problems finding a download site with instructions for using them.

I'm not sure if it's available, but I'd have to say don't bother. I could never finish it on the technology it was designed for because it was the buggiest game I ever played. I put up with all the random crashes, but eventually gave up when I got a recurring crash at a major plot point so I couldn't continue...
I never played through it myself, but you could give the fan-made Quest for Glory 4.5 a try. It would probably be less frustrating...

I'm such a nerd I used to keep an old DOS based PC around for my Space Quest games. Ironically enough, I can get my Space Quest Collection CD to load and play under Linux w/ wine where as I cannot with XP. Are you listening MS? It's pretty bad when your competitor supports your platform better then you do...
