The next generation systems should be able to render those graphics.

For football, I couldn't care less about graphics. I want super-AI and highly technical polygon assignement. No more defenders missing assignments or receivers putting their hands physically through a defenders helmet to catch a ball. That is what I really want.

Damn. Yeah, those really must be in-game graphics. Looks like it's time for me to start saving...

Still don't look like in-game graphics to me. I mean, I hope so, but they haven't shown a camera perspective like an in-game camera.

I'm telling you guys, that is how it will look on all the systems. It won't be as "sharp" when in motion though, and of course you will need a HD Tv to get that quality, but that's it.

What you don't trust a random stranger over the internet? Jeez, what is this world coming to?

Gamespot has seen the commercial. Sad part is that the commercial is pre-rendered!! Although I guess the EA folks are saying that the actual game will look even better.... time will tell.

Linky to the writeup (in the new PS3 section of gamespot!)

It's all about hype and manipulating the least common denominator (which is the bread and butter for the video game "industry" at the moment). Pre-rendered images and video hook people into buying the product. To me, showing what the game will actually look like to me and you is worthy of better impressions and praise, but I'm likely in the minority here.

To me, if you're going to show how incredible a machine is by using pre-rendered images, why not just show a movie of real people and claim that that's what the game will look like? Look, it's photo-realistic!

These images don't look pre-rendered to me. It looks like an in game engine rendered those graphics. You can tell by the way the hand looks in the image below.

I just got a call on my support line from somebody from EA. I managed to maintain my professionalism though.

I can't believe they went to all this effort to promote a commerical with NO in-game footage.

Maybe they aren't allowed until the XBox 360 is officially unveiled..........

"While the producers of the game were careful to tell us that the footage we saw (the very same footage that will roll on Saturday) is not in-game--but rather, it's EA Sports artists' "target video" of what next-generation hardware will be capable of--they did claim the final product will actually be superior in quality to the footage in the commercial. Will this be the case? Only time will tell"

I lost all my interest in watching that comercial...

It's like seeing a beta of the product. They don't want to say its the final version when they still have 6 months of production to go.

If you didn't see the commercial, you can find it here:
http://maddenmania.com/23.php

It looks like the presentation has been the main focus of next gen over 06. The new playcalling looks a little weird. I like how theres playcalling at the sidelines and the coach gives you advice.

Do we know for sure that Madden Next Gen will be available this fall for the XBox 360? I thought I heard somewhere that Madden '07 will be the first Next Gen year.

They haven't said, but why show a commercial 18 months before a game launches????

I'll be honest, i wasn't impressed. Ya, the graphics look great, but hte motion of hte players is still last year. You'd think they'd have the motion capturing down to a science by now.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The people still don't have very lifelike movements at all. I much prefer the hits and character animations of Sega's game, but I guess that's not really an option anymore. They just don't seem fluid. It's like frames of animation are missing somewhere. I don't care how shiny the people look if they don't move in a realistic manner.

I also agree with the other poster about hands going through bodies and things of that nature. Sega had that problem too. I went to bat a pass down, and the ball went physically through my defender's chest and into the opposing team's hands. Work on the physics before you worry about making the graphics picture perfect.

While they have a ways yet to go I was pretty damn impressed and this is coming from someone who really could care less about football and I only play them because they are the only games my one friend plays on LIVE.

With graphics like that I could certainly see myself picking up this title. Sure the animation is a tad jerky I still think it looks real good.

EA's website has Madden 2006 for the normal consoles as well as "next generation" so it will be 2006 but it might not be until October or November if that's when the XBox360 is released.
