Tekken 5 & Annoyances & SLAM TIME!!!!
Does anyone out there play Tekken 5 with friends that resort to the cheapest way to win? i.e. THE SHIN KICK!!!! I just thought this might be a nice place for the normal players to vent about the cheapness of moves the people they know do to win at any cost.

Unfortunately, most of my friends suck at T5. All they do is button mash. It can be challenging sometimes only because they're so unpredictable. The one friend I have that is really good at fighting games we don't get to meet much. We play a lot online, so it sucks that T5 isn't online.

When I used to play Xander in college in Tekken 2 for the PS1, he'd do nothing but Paul's elbow-sweep combo. I hated Paul.
He'll be here soon to bitch about my mad Anna/Nina skills

You know, I love fighting games, but I miss the old days where there were just a few and every one of my friends played street fighter. Now, these great games come out, but few of my friends invest the time to even just learn all the moves, and it becomes a button-mashing fest. Either that, or I go online and get my butt kicked.

Well the thing I hate most about Tekken5 is the rediculouse amount of moves that King has. It's taken me until just a couple weeks ago to really know what to look for and how to block them out of the 160 or so my roommate knows all but a couple, The thing that really pisses me off is that even if you know what to look for and you know how to block and counter efficiently king has a number of moves that will stun your character and leave them open for an attack after the one you just blocked so you're still fucked. Another thing I hate about King is that once he get's a "grab move" on you, it can be linked with like three others that you cannot counter so there goes 75% of your life with essentially nothing you can do about it.
I use Asuka mainly and I know all of her moves and combos, I manage to kick much ass with her, and if you've ever read any of BeanDip or I's posts about my roommate being a crybaby bitch you know that now he doesn't want to play nearly as much and he now doesn't really like Tekken, because he doesn't win every single match.
Characters I use:
Lei
Asuka
Bruce
Bryan
Jin
Steve Fox
Characters I absolutely despise:
King
Jack-2,5,gun jack whatever I've always hated him
most of the girls excluding Nina/Anna and Asuka.
END RANT!!

I actually beat him the first game because I was attacking him with jump attacks. I was used to that type of attack from Street Fighter, but apparently "good Tekken players don't use jump attacks". They're too concentrated on nailing 10 part ground combos that every other good Tekken player sees coming. But if they were THAT good they would be able to prepare for any type of attack. If it's in the game, then deal with it! Of course, in the insisted-upon rematch he slaughtered me, but at least I got to piss him off once.

No Tekken Force has been replaced with the crappy "Devil Within" a half assed (but better than Death by Degrees) action game starring Jin. With any fighting game 3D or 2D its important to remember there is a way around EVERYTHING. It is true that most Tekken players are so set on nailing you with a 10 string they forget to really fight. Theres a kid in my store who is constantly practicing with Law and always focusing on the combos that he has no idea how to really use them in a real fight. He gets so frustrated when I beat him that he gives up when he has 3/4 of a life bar left. I'm constantly telling him "stop thinking so hard, and fight me." So I let hikm beat me to 3/4 of my life and beat him senseless, I think by now he should understand that theres a reason you never give up in a fight. I primarily use Jin, but Im starting to branch off and use more of the roster. I think this is the best Tekken to date Namco seems to have come full circle with the franchise, but I'm really looking forward to Calibur 3. Tekken is fun and all but I like SC more.

Damn, you're on some Master Splinter type shit. Keep schooling that little boy. My little cousin is the same way (especially in Marvel v Capcom) he would be focused on getting his super off that he wouldn't ever really pay attention to what I was doing.I agree that King is a bastard. It's almost like the developers want to reward a person who has the time and patience to master him, because he's damn near unbeatable in the hands of a really skilled player. There is a lot of nuance to his character that is just ripe for ass kickage. I've never had the patience to learn his move set (hell I don't even know all the moves for the guys I use Paul and Brian), but it is impressive to see someone else who knows how to work him. He reminds me of Zangief<sp?> in that regard. He's big and clunky (though King is still usuable by an unskilled player) but once you can pull of those massive power drivers and suplexes like nothing...its over.

Man, the more I see people posting here, the more I wish this was online. I'd love to go up against some of you online to test my skills and learn a few things. Maybe even use King to piss some of you off

It would have been cool if this game was online though. I would have loved to be a part of a dvdtalk tourney.
