Tekken 5, does anyone care?
According to Ebgames website Tekken 5 should be in stores next Saturday. Am I the only one that cares about it? I loved Tekken Tag but hated 4. From what I read 5 plays more like Tekken 3. The rumors are that Tekken 1-3 are also included on the disc. So is anyone else out there excited for it?

I played the hell out of 3 but when 4 came out I didn't care for it that much. I could care less about 5 right now since I've heard pretty much nothing about it.

Stolen for Namco's site...
Stunning Graphics: A completely new graphics engine delivers the most beautiful fighting game experience on the PS2.
Variety of Characters: Play as one of many characters, including three new characters - Asuka Kazama, Raven and Feng Wei.
Realistic Environment: Interactive environment with a variety of destructible objects pump up the action.
Customize the Characters: Fight money earned can allow you to buy various items like caps, glasses and different costumes to dress your favorite character!
Bonus Action Adventure Game, Tekken: Devil Within: An action adventure game unfolds a side story midst action-packed fighting sequences.
Arcade History Mode: The arcade classics of Tekken 1, 2 and 3 are now on the PS2, making this the ultimate Tekken title to commemorate its 10th year anniversary.
I am now buying the game just for Tekken 1, 2 and 3. 4 games for $50? Wow. There also is a limited edition version for $100 that comes with a joystick, art book and cd case.

From what I've seen at the arcade Heiachi is dead and is now a demon or something.
I'm going to rent it for sure and I'll probably end up buying when it's a greatest hits.

I'm totally excited for this. Tekken has been my favorite fighting game series ever since I first played Tekken 1 at Space Mountain back in '89. That's a really great addition that they're doing by releasing 1-3 on the disc as well.

I love Tekken 3. And VF4. And Soul Calibur and Mortal Kombat... but they all seem to reach a point where I'm playing the same game over and over again. I think fighting games as a genre have peaked in terms of innovation

I'm no tekken fan...but here goes. At work, a few guys love Tekken, but hate part 4 since it 'ruined' the game. Part 5 is supposed to go back to the roots and be MUCH better. We have played it for a while in the arcade, and I admit it is really fun. If you like the old Tekken's, or Tekken Tag...it will be worth checking out. Certainly better than the DOA games etc.

I am excited about it. I finally got to play a little of it at a local arcade, and it was fun. Jinpachi or whoever that is at the end is nuts.

I am looking forward to five. There's a new Ninja/Blade charecter. All the fighters have a distinct personality that's lacking in alot of other games.

Anyway, I'm not that hyped for it. I rarely play multiplayer anymore, and fighting games get old pretty quick in single player. I may pick it up once it's $20 or less.

Why not think of it as paying $1 for every state? Or fifty cents for every bottle of beer on the wall?

Old school fighting games don't hold up well for me, I guess. Heck, I haven't even opened disc 1 from DOA Ultimate yet.

I also played a ton of Tekken 3, but Tekken tag didn't grab me at all. Never touched 4. Tag also just didn't seem graphically worthy of being a ps2 game, and at the time T3 was notable for it's excellent ps1 graphics and also awesome cgi movies.
I might buy it down the track if it reviews well and has great graphics.

I am really looking forward to this title. I've been a huge fan of the series since Tekken (used to play it in the arcades) and rented a PS1 way back when from blockbuster just so I could play the original Didn't care much for Tekken 4, but I've got this sucker already pre-ordered. I don't see that it'll change much (probably a good thing after 4), but the new characters should be good.
