Let's you play all you want, for a year, but limits you to the Newbie Island.
I'm a WoW Fanboy, but I'm definately gonna give this a try.

In beta, you could up to I think 6 on the newbie island. To level past that, you had to do a citizenship quest which wasn't available on the island.

Evercrack indeed. I downloaded the free trial last night. I'm a dark elf level 6 mage already. It really is addicting. I'm seriously thinking of buying the full version. good times.

I think it would be dangerous for me to buy this. I already spend enough time in WoW.
Plus, I don't want to pay another fee for another game, even if it is good.

I know what you mean bdshort. I made it to level 6 in one day for the free trial version and I'm so tempted to purchase it. The only other mmorpg i've ever played before everquest 2 was SWG. SWG really isn't that good compared to Everquest 2. I noticed less bugs in a free trial version of Everquest 2 then the later editions of SWG. I can't believe the same company makes both games. I do think it's better if I don't purchase Everquest 2 though. I'd be so tempted to get level 50 wizard that I'd become more mentally insane then I am now. I have an addictive personality, so I should stay away from mmorpg's like wow and everquest 2. Hell, I'm going through withdrawl right now because I can't get beyond level 6 in the trial version.

From www.everquest2.com faq
-Video Card: DirectX 9 compatible. Pixel shader and vertex shader compatible hardware with 64 MB of texture memory
It doesn't say it 'requires' a DX9 card, or 64MB of ram, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did (at least as far as the ram goes). Does the MX440 only have 32MB of ram? The MX series was always considered to be a pretty bad one, and EQ2 is a hog.
Also try the latest drivers on www.nvidia.com

can you recommend a good new card? is it possible to keep it under $60 or so?
