Halo 2 Has Ruined My Life (Almost)
Well, it's been out for like 3 months now and I am still addicted to Halo 2. Now, looking back, I am trying to determine what exactly this game has done to me. While I have not played the game as much as some (cough, Canis and Stragehate), I have spent WAY too many hours playing this on Xbox Live.
Now, I can hardly bring myself to play anything else. Here is a list of games I still have in the wrapper:
Metroid Prime 2
Knights of the Old Republic 2
R&C: UYA
Mario Power Tennis
Donkey Konga
Games that I opened and played once or twice:
ESPN NBA 2K5
ESPN College Hoops 2K5
Katamari Damacy
NFSU2
Paper Mario
This is unbelievable! I even quit playing Madden and Vice City! I need help!
Now I am thinking about trading all the above games back in for PSP games. Of course, I didn't want that at all until this evil MB starting posting all the pretty pictures...
The worst part might be my wife. She has cried at least two times because I refused to come to bed because of Halo 2. Now, she has moved past complaining about it and even encourages me to play. This is a horrible sign of just how sick the whole thing has become.
Anybody else have any stories to tell?
And no, I WILL NOT BE ON TONIGHT YOU GUYS. LOL.

Once I stalled out on my stats(bouncing back and forth between levels 9-11) I let it go. It is obvious I won't make it much higher than that. I still get on once a week to play custom matches with friends but even then it gets old playing the same tired modes all the time. Everytime I want to try something new, one other person whines or bitches and won't let the game load.
So now I am making my way through the stack of games I acquired while I was caught up in Halo 2.

I received KOTOR II for Xmas and promptly returned it because of Halo 2.
I am considering selling GTA: San Andreas and Nintendo DS for a similar reason.
It's a sickness.

San Andreas is languishing away in my PS2. MechAssault 2 remains unplayed, even though I created a DVDTalk Clan for it.
I didn't even BUY Metroid Prime 2. It's definitely a sickness. And I don't keep playing to boost my stats or get a higher level. I just enjoy it. Too. Much. Fun.

I'm glad someone's happy with Halo 2. To be honest I get sick of getting my ass kicked and frankly, all the CTF and Hide the Salami games don't do anything for me.
I just like straight carnage Slayer games. Fuck all the stategy bs.

I don't have as much time for gaming as I used to, and the time I do play I'm usually playing Halo 2. The clan is by far the main reason why I'm playing so much. It's nice to be able to play with a good group of people, as opposed to a bunch of 12 year old brats.
Since I'm not much of a pc gamer, I played Counter-Strike on Live constantly when it first came out for xbox (Office is to this day one of my favorite maps for any FPS). The one thing that game lacked was a clan option, or else I'd still be playing it.

It's not the game, it's the clan that keeps ME coming back. It's awesome to play with Dvdtalk clan!
Dvdtalkers, I've got your back! (unless I'm in a vehicle, then you'd better watch out too)

Some people just don't understand the special bond that forms when two spartans join together for the common goal of guarding the flag/making the base a more inviting place for teammates.

HEY! That's NOT for non-clan members to know about.

Damn, I don't care if I'm half way through the final boss battle on a game. If a woman asks me to stop playing and come to bed with her it is game over.
Games are suppose to be fun, but moderation is important in everything included video games. I've heard so many of these online gaming horror stories, but I still can't figure out how the virtual world can be better than a living breathing woman waiting for you in bed.

Hard to tell how long until her "encouraging" him to play now is to distract him while she bangs the hot neighbor/co-worker, etc.

In all seriousness, I hope it doesn't come to that.

Well, I think it's time to set up a support group for all you addicts. Now, since people are all over the country, we'll have to improvise for the meeting place. I suggest we all meet nightly for a minimum of 4 hours on Live in a friendly game of CTF.
