Halo 2, no question.
My opinions on the other nominees I played:
Burnout 3 - fun, but shallow (sold it)
Riddick - fun, but I got tired of looking for people in the prison. Too "fetch questy" for me. I only got about 5 hours into the game though...
GTA: SA - while I was enjoying this, Halo 2's release forced me to drop it and I haven't looked back. Since then, I've got Resident Evil 4 to offset Halo 2. Not much interest into getting back into GTA.
Metroid Prime 2: Got about halfway through the first and dropped it. Too difficult in spots and kinda boring in the grand scheme of things.
Half-Life 2: Played the demo. Didn't seem interesting enough to upgrade my PC to make it playable. I think I'm done with PC gaming.
UT2004: I played this for a few months but ultimately it was too random for me. A big appeal of Halo 2 is playing with people I know on a regular basis. None of my friends picked up UT.

yeah, but it's got that speed burst thing so you don't waste so much time jogging everywhere. that's a huge plus, in my book

I wish for the KOTOR series they would do like they did with Shenmue and take the cutscenes and make a movie from it because i would really like to see the storyline, but i just dont feel like playing the game.

I voted R&C 3 as it was the most fun I had with a videogame (other than multiplayer Halo 2) all year. Riddick and Burnout 3 were close contenders, but R&C 3 is the only game I played through 2 1/2 times. I have and haven't played MGS3, MP2, and PM:TYD.

I hvae to go with Halo 2. When I sit back and think about the game and analyze it, there are a lot of things that could be better. There are several things I don't like. And yet, when I go out to pick a game to just sit and play for awhile, I always pick it.

Well, after about two weeks of studying the poll, I must conclude that the DVDtalk forum's Game of the Year is... Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater! Halo 2 comes in at a distant second.
In all seriousness though, the people have spoken. Halo 2 is by far the favorite here.
Now, here's the million dollar question: If it wasn't for Halo 2's Live multiplayer, would it still be number one?
