I don't finish many games, but the thing is that I get to the 85-90% mark, then start a new game. It's weird. I do finish most RPG's if I've got a logged a lot of hours in them and I like the story.

If you thought the RC copter level in Vice City was hard, you may kill yourself after trying the mission "Supply Lines" in GTA:SA. It only took me about 4 straight hours

And unfortunately, there is only one way to do it - get lucky and do it perfectly. There is no room for error. The only good thing about it is that it's not necessary to finish the story. You really only need it to get a 100% score on your stats.

Yep I've finished about 36 games for the cube this past year alone, with many more started or near the end. I also have many ps2/xbox games started or nearly finished, and some completed, I just haven't counted them up. I tend to go through a game to about 50-75% then jump to something new, coming back to the game months later.

I finished two. Casino Kid (no cheats) and Golden Sun I (inf HP, etc).

I only finish games that really impress me. Otherwise I "pick at" so so games playing them occasionally but never finishing them.

KOTOR...at the end but the boss keeps kicking my ass

I've never really played games for the challenge, but moreso for experiencing the game. But I love to try games. I remember when I had my dreamcast I must've played every single game released, but 90% of the games I played for maybe 10 minutes a piece. I was more interested in trying them.

But if I love the games, I finish them, particuarly FPS, RPG and adventure games. I've pretty much played through each of the Resident Evil games many a time, and I've beaten Halo every which way possible. A few RPGs I've actually spent 50 hours playing through also. But these are few and far between, unless we go back to when I had a genesis. I played through games more back when I was 12 or 13 years old.

Yeah, I usually try to stick to one game and finish it. Of course, like most people here I have to be enjoying myself. Personally what I try to do is vary the types of games I play. I'm pretty hardcore when it comes to gaming as I have all three systems. I don't stick with any one genre, I jump around a lot. This way when a new fps comes out it feels fresh because I've been playing something else (flying, racing, rpg)...

Here's a tip for you guys that get frustrated on tough parts. Just some things that I tend to do. If I get really stuck somewhere it's usually time to take a break. A lot of times I've gotten stuck, stopped playing and while doing something else the bright light bulb above my head pops up! AHA!!! Then whenever I go back to the game I try my bright idea and it works, or maybe not. Either way after a break I can usually come back and figure it out. My rule of thumb is to not spend more than 30 to 60 minutes on a frustrating section. This keeps the blood pressure down and my controllers intact.

If all else fails then I'll go check out an faq at gamefaqs. I look at what I need and that's it. I'd rather look for a clue or cheat altogether on a very tough section than give up on a game I'm enjoying otherwise. I try not to do this too often, but some games get out of hand.

If I buy a game I beat it or unlock everything. Sometimes I get games as gifts that I'm not super into, and I try and finish them, but sometimes it can be a struggle.

I usually do not finish many games. But some games that are just so great or have a really great story to keep me going, I eventually do finish. Other times, I feel obligated to try and finish a game. Some of the games I have actually completed recently:

Metroid Prime 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (I have not finished any other GTA game), Metal Gear Solid 3, Halo 2.

I'm pretty sure I will finish Resident Evil 4 when I start it up. I'm thinking of going back to finish all three Jak & Daxter games, and all the Ratchet and Clanks, and Sly 2 (I did finish the first one).

Great posts guys...thanks for the feedback. I do feel a little better about myself...I thought that I was in the minority. I thought that probably everyone on this board finished ever game they had and did 100% everything with each game. Cool.

Its funny how this post is coming up now. I just looked over all my games a few days ago and was thinking that I have to get my ass in gear. I have maybe 50 games at home between the three systems (PS2, GC, XBOX) and I counted out how many I still need to finish and I would have to say there was atleast 20 in that pile. I have games that I have forgotten that I even own its been so long since I went back to them. God, I suck!!! I will say that in the past three weeks though, I have beaten two games. Ratchet and Clank UYA and Klonoa 2. Now I'm working on POP 2. This one won't take me that long though. After that, I just bought Resident Evil 4. I soooo want to put down POP 2 and put in RE 4 But I'm not going to do it. MUST FINISH!!!!

Yeah, I sometimes finish my games....I feel like I have too since I have gone this far.

X-Men Legends
Fable
a few others also ....they just don't come to mind.

Now I'm onto Red Dead Revolver ($10...so I won't be upset if I don't finish it)

I mainly play sports games and XBOX LIVE games though, so that is where a majority of my gaming time goes.

I was about to say, the main culprit in me not finishing the majority of my games are the sports games that I come back to time and time again, especially basketball and football. If I had the willpower to not buy the new release every year, I'm convinced I could still play some version of ESPN NBA or Madden or College Football for years and years, with just some roster updates.

I love Live, but the problem with online gaming is that if you miss out on the initial rush, for most games you'll find very few people online to play with. Exceptions will probably be Halo 2 and "franchise" games like that. Even for MMORPGs, I'll be excited at first but it'll die down after a few months or a year...

I'm pretty terrible at finishing games. I've got a lot of CRPGs that need finishing. I guess I just don't have the time to play games like I used to.

Action games I tend to finish, i've completely started crapping out on rpg's though, get usually around 60 percent done and just quit. Takes a special one like KOTOR for me to finish these days.

My two biggest problems are getting to end guys (or hard bosses) and quitting and putting games on the shelf so long I don't remember what I was doing:

1st problem games:

1. Half-Life (and the Marine expansion)
2. Ninja Gaiden
3. Fable
4. Dark-side quest in KOTOR
5. Twisted Metal: Black

2nd problem games:

1. GTA: San Andreas
2. Beyond Good and Evil
3. Chronicles of Riddick

Just to name a few...

1st problem for me:

Pikmin 2
Burnout 3

3rd problem: games still in the shrink wrap - about a dozen.

I agree with a lot of you. I don't necessarily like it when a game is short but it does make it a lot easier to get into. Some great examples are Pikmin and Metroid Zero mission. Those are so much fun and don't take too long so I have beaten them a whole lot of times.

I get a lot of cheap games so I don't really invest too much in them and usually don't finish them. I usually do finish most of my games though.

Some I'm ashamed of not finishing.
Mario and Luigi - got to the final boss, tried a couple times and just couldn't beat it.
Zelda Wind Waker - I am at Ganon's castle and I just completely dropped it. I was really into this game too, even made charts of what was in which square of the sea and what clues the fish gave.
Zelda Oracle of Ages (I think) - one of these I beat and inputed the code but never finished the second. Got pretty far too. On the other hand I've finished all the other zelda games and have beaten Link to the Past and the original at least half a dozen times.
Final Fantasy Tactics GBA - I hate the stupid laws which frustrated me to not playing. It was a good game though.
Golden Sun II - I got so close to the end then unexplicably dropped it.

I really hate it when you drop a game and forget what you were doing.

I have a big problem with quitting games and forgetting what was going on, also. I'll get really into a game, play it obsessively and then get bored and put it aside. By the time I feel like playing it again, I've forgotten everything so I end up not bothering.

The only games I've finished in the past few years are Max Payne 1 & 2 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds. There might be more, but that's all I can think of.

I think I can count on my hands the number of games I've finished. That's not that many considering how many games I've played. And most of the games I've finished, I have to get some 'help' from other sources or else I would've been stuck at some point in the game.

Did you just finish the game or did you unlock everything?

I tend to finish every game I buy within reason. To me finishing a game doens't mean 100% of stuff unlocked such as games like Tiger Woods golf etc. TO me fishing a game is completing the main game, with a reasonable percentage of stuff. However some games such as mario kart, I must unlock everything because well it's fun, and will be used down the road.

I really only buy games when I don't have one that needs beat. If I have one in process, I'll simply play that everytime I play a game until it's complete (Prob only get like 3-4 hours of gaming time in a week to begin with). Once I beat it, if it's a platformer or something, it goes right on ebay, to help fund my next game. I never keep games unless they are sports/racing/fighting games.

If in a event I get a game I don't like or won't finish I'll ebay it right away, no sense me keeping something I don't want to finish right then.

This is obviously somewhat flexible though, if a friend comes over I'll play whatever he wants, but I won't go buying new games until I get my current one done or sold.

Most of the time, yes, as I don't buy a lot of games, and I only buy the really good ones that I'm really interested in. I mainly use Gamespot.com to weed out the crap. Plus, it's more of the journey than the destination for me, so if the main boss battle is too tough and I can't beat in a fair amount of time, I'll give up. I'm not into bragging rights over beating a game like I was as a kid.
