Thoughts on Battlefront?
Anyone have any thoughts on SW Battlefront for XBOX? Is is worth buying? How is the live play? I have a little extra Christmas money and was thinking about picking it up

It's a great game if you have good number of human players and no lag. It's one of my faves right now. However,I would get it used if you can find it for decent price.

Yeah, pretty fun online. I lot more casual and laid-back than most online battle games.

Bought it, played it for a week, promptly sold it.
Way too much chatter from other players, horrendous lag and a generally bad experience all around.
And I was really looking forward to it.

Surprisingly I haven't encountered too many games with bad players, at least not anymore than I find in other games. I wonder if time has filtered out some of that. Most games usually come down to non-talkative players who just concentrate on playing, or people talking casually, throwing out strategy, etc., but having a generally good sense of humor about them.
I think that is one thing I've found I like. Halo is typically for my more serious moods, while Battlefront feels more laid back and the people playing don't seem to get up in arms about the way a game unfolds.

Yeah, I had it. The single player was pretty lacking....I beat the campaings...blah blah. The LIVE play was decent, but lag was starting to be an issue and I believe there was only ONE type of game to play. Try to capture the bases/checkpoints. It was pretty fun, but I traded it in at GameRush when I still could get top dollar. I may pick it up again when it hits below $20.....I was just not THAT impressed with the game.

I third this sentiment as well. 100%I'll add that the graphics aren't all that impressive, and one play mode got kind of old. I didn't feel the controls were very polished either. The game just had a very rushed feel to it.
The only positive I will give the game is Hoth. Brilliant. There was nothing like being a sniper-Snowtrooper. Get up on a snow bank in front of the rebel controlled base, lay in the snow so you can't be seen, and snipe away. That was a blast.

Make that a fourth.
The only thing I liked about the game was taking down the AT-AT Walkers with the Snowspeeder harpoon. That is one of the coolest video game experiences in memory. Since you can do that a few times by renting the game, I don't recommend buying it.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I rented it and it was laggy online, the most lag filled game I've ever played. Plus no slayer modes, capture the flag, or team slayer modes make the game severely lacking against other games. If I can get it for 24.99 I might get it, but not for a penny more than that. There's a post on lucasarts message board that says the game will be patched to fix some of the lag issues and add a new map (Jabba's palace) and the patch should be available by early January.

I think the biggest flaw was the lack of a "push-to-talk" feature. Everyone was just shouting into their microphones throughout the whole match.
I much prefer Halo 2's method of communication.
