Point of the Gamecube BBA?
Why did Nintendo create this accessory and then fail to create games to exploit it? MK:DD lets you link two Gamecubes with BBA's but that is kind of weak - I mean I'd never find 8 people to play MarioKart at once.
The only game which legitimately uses the adapter is Phantasy Star Online I&II from Sega. I really enjoy playing that online, but I wish Nintendo could publish a title of their own that would truly utilize the internet playability (hint, hint - ANIMAL CROSSING 2?!?!?!).
Anyone know what the original purpose for creating the adapter was? Was there a line of titles inteded to use it where the BBA support was dumped prior to publishing? (Josh Hinkle - I know you have an answer for part of this.)
Thanks!

The adapter was created primary for 3rd party developers. PSO I&II and PSO III are the only games to use it online. There was a Ghosts & Goblins Online game being made for Gamecube but I haven't heard anything about it in over a year. Animal Crossing Online would be pure evil.

WarpPipe is an interesting project, but only able to be used when the BBA is accessible from the game (the other title that is true for is Avalache 1080). IMO those games don't count b/c they were not intended to be played online. The developers at WP figured out how to exploit it for that.
AC2 online would just rock so hard. Nintendo could get $10/month outta ME to play that on a server!!!!

Not going to happen on Gamecube though. Maybe next generation.
