Question about XBox Live Starter Kit

If I have a 1 year card for Xbox Live, do I need the starter kit to use it? Let's say I already have the Xbox Live disc for loading the software. Is that memory card necessary for Xbox Live?

1. Nope.
2. Nope.
You can use the card just fine. I'd reccomend that you start your account with the free two month trial, and then add on the 1 year sub.

If you add the 12month card to the 2month trial, will it make it 14 months, or will Microsoft end the trial as soon as you use a card?

Do I need the starter kit disc to load the Xbox Live software? If not, how do I load it?

it adds it on to the end, so if you enter the 12mo right after the trial card, it'll be 14 months before your credit card is charged.

I believe you can only use 1 2 month trial per card.
And you cannot use a 2 month trial card if you are already a subscriber(via 12 month card or yearly paid subscription)

You could make a new account with a 2 month trail card, but you can't use it with an already active account.

Guys, is the Xbox Live Memory Chip with Volume & Headset jack necessary to use the headset with it? How can I get that chip by itself without the headset I don't need? Is there a control that is sold that wouldn't require that chip?

Thanks

Yes it is. You plug a standard 1.5 mm jack into it and it fits into the memory card slot on your controller

I'm not sure, you might be able to find one on ebay.

Yes. The Phoenix Live Control Pad had a built-in live hardware and you could plug any 1.5 mm jack into it. Unfortunately, it's apparently not a very good controller. Mad Catz may have also made one with the hardware inside, I'm not sure about that though.

edit: Mad Catz does make a new controller with the hardware. It's called the LiveCon Controller. Yes, it IS a dumb name. It lists for $39.99 Here's a picture

And here's the Phoenix Pad Live that lists for $44.95
