POP Warrior Within discussion thread.

Just wondering if anyone got this since it came out today. I picked it up but have not had a chance to POP it in yet. Was one of my favorite games last year and can't wait to dive in.

What do you guys think?

goLUCKY 12-01-04 02:57 PM

arghhh..... To many games not enough time. Maybe it's time to finish the old one.

Josh H 12-01-04 03:14 PM

Same here, thus I'll wait for this to hit $20 or lower and hopefully I'll have time to play it then.

Prince of Persia II: Warrior Within

I picked up this game today over at EB games. EB included at nice promo, a Prince of Persia art book.

Anyway, The game is alot of fun! The story seems pretty interesting and the combos with fighting has been greatly improved. I started the game on Normal, which is pretty tough already. Can't beat the first boss :(

purplechoe 12-01-04 03:46 PM

Does anyone have the pc specs needed to play this game? I tried looking in a few places but haven't found anything yet. I can always buy the PS2 version, but would rather buy it for a pc.

purplechoe 12-01-04 03:49 PM

I allso posted this in the other thread. Does anyone know the pc specs needed play this game? Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for posting that. Looks like I'll be going with the PC version, which is only $35.99 at Amazon with free shipping.

OldBoy 12-01-04 04:29 PM

is it better, worse, same compared to Sands of?

Get Me Coffee 12-01-04 05:51 PM

I would say better but it's very much the same....it's darker than the first that's for sure.

OldBoy 12-01-04 06:41 PM

i was getting annoyed when only 5% through and having trouble triple jumping up the walls to get the dagger, also, thought the fighting was a little tedious in the beginning (i am only at 5% actually with SoT right now)...is there more of that in WW?

Ditto, I only played the first level and went off to other games, then forgot about it. That was, what, like over a year ago now?
:D

Wasn't that first boss hard!?!? God damn! It took me hours just to beat that bitch! The key is to block and then counter attack.

MasterofDVD 12-01-04 10:07 PM

I really want to give this game a shot but I made it almost the entire way to the end of the first one and got so stressed I returned it. I think I was 96% of the way done or more. I was jumping outside between these 2 walls and I kept falling to my death.

This one looks good but I'm still a bit ticked off by the last one. It's on my to play list but it is near the bottom of that list.

msdmoney 12-01-04 10:12 PM

My cheaply pre-ordered copy arrives Friday at gamerush, but I am still just starting Metroid Prime 2.

nickdawgy 12-01-04 10:47 PM

Hmm, I haven't even played the first one....

wmansir 12-01-04 11:07 PM

For those that had jumping problems: Where you on a PC using a keyboard/mouse?

I found that almost impossible to do, especially when it came to multiple-jumps like the part just before you get the dagger. I hooked up a controller and it was cake. Unfortunately my old controller got fried so I may have to find a new one before I can play the new game.

BizRodian 12-01-04 11:20 PM

Played the demo on the computer... seemed like it was an ok game... nothing special.

Get Me Coffee 12-02-04 11:06 AM

To me it's a fun game. It's a nice break away from my usual games, FPS.

fujishig 12-02-04 12:52 PM

I thought the controls for the first one were superb (on Xbox, at least). The whole concept behind the sands of time allowed experimentation as to what you could and couldn't do, and after a while things became second nature. The only frustrating parts were fighting, especially in close quarters.

So the second has the same "rewind" feature as the first? Or is it a totally different concept? Haven't read up on this that much, but I might buy it just to support it, since I don't think the first one did all that well in initial release (after all, I was one of those who waited for the magical 20 dollar pricepoint before finally purchasing it)

Yes, the same rewind is in the game...

So far the game is awesome!

zerotl 12-02-04 04:53 PM

Hell yeah, awesome game, this one and KOTOR were the only 2 games I beat this year. The puzzles were cool, and yes sometimes the jumping gets ridiculous, but it was fun.

Is the girl really gone on this one?

Get Me Coffee 12-02-04 06:36 PM

So far I haven't seen her.....

wmansir 12-02-04 09:13 PM

I'm pretty far into the game and so far I'm a bit disappointed. They took my favorite parts from the first one (puzzles, story, characters/atmosphere) and scaled them back and shifted focus to my least favorite part (combat).

The combat system is much improved, but I just don't enjoy it that much. I could enjoy PoP:SoT without any combat. The very elaborate puzzles are gone. You still have to run and jump, but it seems more like jumping thru hoops than puzzle solving.

finbogg 12-02-04 11:05 PM

I'm liking it so far although the boss battles are pretty tough on normal. I agree that the combat over puzzle fighting is a bit disappointing but they improvements to combat are good enough to forgive that. I think the graphics are actually slightly worse (in the game-engine cut scenes) than the first one. Weird texturing and blocky models in some shots.
