It's funny cause it's true.

World of Warcraft Trial-Period Extension
Link: www.worldofwarcraft.com
World of Warcraft's record-setting first week brought hundreds of thousands of players together to adventure in Azeroth. The extremely high concurrency numbers that we've seen since the game's launch have required us to double our total number of servers over a four-day period, which is much faster than we had initially planned. This caused some issues with a few servers, and some players had difficulty logging in to the game during this period.
We are determined to provide our players with the best experience possible. It is for that reason that we are extending the one-month trial-period for players who created accounts before or during the downtime. The length of the trial-period extension will be based on when the player's account was created:
Accounts created on November 23 will receive a 4-day extension
Accounts created on November 24 will receive a 3-day extension
Accounts created on November 25 will receive a 2-day extension
Accounts created on November 26 will receive a 1-day extension
Our sincere apologies go out to all who experienced service disruptions. As always, we appreciate your patience and support, and we wish you good luck in your adventures in Azeroth!

World of Warcraft tops fastest-selling PC game rankings

MMORPG title sells by the bucketload at US launch, forcing doubled server capacity
Blizzard's long-awaited massively multiplayer title World of Warcraft has become the fastest selling PC game ever in North America, with the developer revealing that over 350,000 copies sold in its first weekend at retail.
Over 240,000 units of the game sold across the continent in the first 24 hours, with over 200,000 game accounts created in the first day and 100,000 players online concurrently by 5pm PST, forcing Blizzard to double its server capacity to 80 systems.
The immense success of the game goes some way to explaining the teething troubles it experienced over its first weekend on sale, with some players complaining of long waits to get onto servers and massively overcrowded areas in the game.
However, the developer is working on ensuring that it has enough server capacity to accommodate all of its players, and may even restrict the shipping of additional stock to retail to prevent servers from being flooded again before it can put more robust infrastructure in place.
In a statement last night, the company said that it "is currently evaluating its ability to ship additional games to retailers, given the unexpectedly high demand on the servers," but assured consumers that it will ship further copies when it can accommodate all the players connecting to the game.
World of Warcraft launched in North America on November 23rd, and is not expected to arrive in Europe until early in 2005 - although further beta phases are planned for European gamers between now and then.

I am surprised this has sold that well, I knew it would sell great but best selling (or fastest selling) pc game ever. I know Warcraft and Blizzard are huge in gaming but I thought this would easily be outsold by Half Life 2 and Doom 3 as well as Sims 2, especially since WOW is an MMORPG. Maybe MMORPG's have become more mainstream than I thought.

It wasn't me. I only said one word in chat "ok", and that was in dvdtalk channel (just to see if I understood how it worked). I got no replies (hey, it's just like when I post at DVDtalk!)
Maybe there's someone with a similar name (which sucks, if that's really how he talks).

Well I just started up last night. I joined Cenarius server, so hopefully I'll be able to get in with the DVDtalk crowd.
I created a dwarf and spent a couple hours just getting the feel of things, completed a couple quests and leveled up to 5. I'll pop in the dvdtalk channel when I'm on.

any high level hunters out there?
I'm confused about some of the talents. For example one of the beast mastery talent is "Spirit Bond". But that is also listed as a 40th lvl spell.
why would you want to invest points toward this talent when u can buy it?

Just started playing this game on Thursday since it's part of my new job.
So far, i'm a level 9 troll hunter playing on the Blackrock realm, named XNoodles. Pretty cool, despite being a heavy PC gamer this is the first MMORPG i've started playing, simply because the monthly fees have always pushed me away, but luckily it won't be an issue now. Having fun so far, and i'm set to play with multiple friends of mine that have already started or are going to start with me. I'll try and join up with the DVDTalk fellas later on
