Can anyone verify the 23 dollar amazon card this, so called, Groucho has posted? Is the like "DVDtalk friendly" or "Groucho's campaign fund friendly"?

ps. Groucho: pick me for your VP! I'm the 2nd funniest guy on here (in this reply, that is)

Goddamit.

It figures they'd release BG during the busiest week of the year for me at work. However, I should be able to get out of here in about 30 min or so, which is earlier than I should but not early enough to get me into trouble.

Still, I'm happy that it's out. I've become bored running through BRD trying to get quests completed there, and I'm TM is as bad as ever.

On an unrelated note:

Has anyone had any major success with a 5-man party in Strat (undead side), or should that really be done in a raid group? We tried it a couple of days ago with a Mage (me), a Warrior, a Shaman, a Rogue and a Hunter - all lvl 60 - and it was a disaster.

We would've done better with a Priest thrown in the mix, I know, but we couldn't find one in time.

Does anyone have any tactics that they've used there that seemed to work?

Get rid of the hunter, and grab a priest.

We tried, believe me.

Problem is, with 10 guildies at 60 and another 17 at 55+, we're stuck with only one priest (lvl 58) for the entire guild. And our priest likes to keep odd hours, which only makes the situation worse.

We've been able to get away with using a Shaman or a Druid for healing, but we're in desperate need of a real, true-blue healer at this point. A couple of us have priest alts, but I don't think any are over lvl 25 yet.

So if any 45+ horde priests are looking to be treated like royalty (and aren't in a guild) feel free to message me. I'm on the Gilneas server.

holy crap it takes a long time to form a bg group. There are only 2400 horde on my server, and it took nearly an hour to find me a spot.

It probably depends on your level, server, and which battleground you're trying to get into. I played a couple CTF rounds last night (51-60). Both times I got in within just a few seconds.

The games themselves went TERRIBLY. Nobody wanted to work together or defend the base. Everybody wanted to be the "Hero" and run solo to grab the flag. It was ridiculous.

Is it easy to get in this game now or have I missed the boat from not being in from the beginning? My summer midweek nights are essentially free since wife and daughter will be at my vacation home.

I don't think it's a bad time to jump in the game at all.

I see new players all the time, and because the levelling is pretty quick, you'll also have experienced players who are playing alts around to help you out.

There's been talk of opening up some new servers soon as well, which would mean you could hop on one of those and be on an equal playing field with everybody.

I just started playing 11 days ago and I LOVE it. I can't put the time in that I would like, but I have about 25 hours of gameplay so far. I'm just glad I'm not in school. There's no way I'd pass classes with this game around. Wing Commander and Civilization were bad enough, but this is so big that it's another level of addiction.

It's my first MMORPG and it's not what I expected. I was afraid that the game would require hours of gameplay per day. But you really can enjoy it in small doses (if you have that kind of willpower). A guy I work with plays for an hour each day before work and he's at level 60.

One of my concerns was that I would buy it and feel obligated to keep playing to "get my money's worth". Even if I cancel my account after my free month is up (I got a 10 day 'guest' pass too), I still won't have any regrets about spending the initial $50. At this point, $15 a month doesn't concern me either. There's so much to do and enjoy. You'll get $15 out of one weekend of play.

If you get a chance, go to the main page and check out some of the "Vintage Posters". Very very cool...

I'm going to make this one my wallpaper:

dammit, why did I get into this game??!! I'm getting nothing done

speaking of patches, I'd be nice if a future patch allowed the armor, weapons, etc to be repaired when your character reaches another level.

I'm up to level 13.

Big patch, but of course they did nothing to help out the pallies. What a waste.

Mages get a bazillion honor kills in the arenas, from what I've seen.

It looks like it's a one time thing for each type of cloth at least per faction (though I'm thinking just one per alliance/horde). I found this Alliance quartermaster NPC outside the tailor shop in IF. You can give 60 silk and/or 60 wool and each one raises rep significantly. I went ahead and paid out 60 silk for 2450 exp (IIRC) and a big rep boost, but I need to save up a little more wool right now.

Don't know if there's a gnome rep or anyone in SW though since the name on this person was "Alliance...."

no kidding. I've casually encountered so many bugs with my druid char.

thorns damage will break a creature out of hibernate
damage from entangling roots will break the entangling roots effect.
stun from starfire actually gives me less time before entering melee as creature gets teleported right in front of me.

plus i read that the latest patch broke the moonfire talent, making restoration even more required.

that said I love my druid. I watched 2 lvl 44 chars die twice in STV fighting this elite giant walking in the water. I offered to heal them in combat(I'm only 36 so I doubt I could have hurt the giant) after I rezed the shaman, and we (i use we sparingly) killed it easily.

The first two are not bugs. Any damage will wake hibernate. Thorns also creates lots of threat, so if you're the main healer in the party, don't put thorns on yourself! According to Blizzard, Roots are supposed to be easy to break. As for the third one, I've never experienced that (level 56 NE druid). When soloing, I usually start with starfire, then moonfire, then shift to bear. I have noticed the quick teleport with any root breakage or any sort of ice traps (hunter or mage). That one started in the last patch before this BG patch.

The only change I've noticed after this patch for druids is that they changed our barkskin graphic. Before we were bubbled like any of the other class shileds, now we have a thorny wall rotating around us. I was rather disappointed in the lack of druid love for this patch though.

I'm going to be picking the game up today, any tips/tricks/strategies for the beginning of the game would be appreciated. What would be a good character class and does it really matter if you are part of the alliance/horde?

The love for Druids is called "Warsong Gulch." They rock in that place!
