I wonder if I'm fighting a losing battle waiting for a US release of the black DS.

There are quite a few games coming out for DS that I want on that list! On the other hand, with a small number of exceptions it looks like the GBA is turning into a dumping ground for crappy movie/TV games. Ouch.

That rumble pack add-on bundled with Metroid Prime Pinball might be a nice feature. A bit more tactile response could make it feel more like an authentic pinball game. Plus it's Metroid.

Up until a few days ago play asia was selling the black ds cheaper shipped than the us version. They might do so again if the price cut is all over. I didn't really care for it that much. Its not the midnight black of the SP but grey black that doesn't look all that good unless they are releasing a different black than the ones overseas.

Oh yeah I'm reading backwards. Maybe I haven't seen a good pic of the black one.

As you always say, it's the games that matter.

I wouldn't miss out on games you want to play waiting for a certain color DS.

DS, one handheld to rule them all? Now if only they'd redesign it to be slightly more stylish and compact. Still now I'm up to 4 games RELEASED that I want, which is at least 3 more than the psp. Patience...

Be tough to have the touch screen functional if it was more compact.

I'm betting it will eventually get a redesign. Nintendo loves to tinker with their designs to give the line a little new life and get us to rebuy hardware again. Micro anyone.

I'm sure they can get it more compact at some point.

Oh I'm sure they can make it more compact, but I'd think a smaller design, while fine for games like Kirby, would be disastrous for games like Metroid Prime where you have to use the touch screen and the d-pad or buttons. It's already awkward and I couldn't picture holding it that way if it were any smaller.

Personally I like the big size. I never got an SP b/c they cramped my hands.

It's nicely sized. The SP was managable, but I like the DS better. My only gripe is that the face buttons are too small and a little too close to each other.

I picked up Advance Wars and played about the first 7 or 8 missions on it. It looks and feels a lot like the Advance Wars on GBA, and that makes the game worthwhile for me. Plan on playing it more tonight.

I also have Nintendogs, but having only 1 save point is killing me right now. I am letting my wife play it. Too bad I couldnt get in on the $14.99 Amazon deal.

Yet, another Resident Evil 1 remake though. No interest from me I've played that game enough.

I thought the SP was too small when I first got one, but after hundeds of hours with it, it by far is the most comfortable for me our of the three designs (GBA, SP, DS). Going to the GBA was awkward and the DS still feels a bit bulky.

Picked up Advance Wars tonight and I'm very impressed so far. Everything great about the GBA versions, but more polished and more fun than ever. Granted I'm sure I will get stuck like always on the fog of war missions, but this is by far the best portable game I have played since Minish Cap.

What games on the GC Namco Museum 50th Anniversary thing? Havent heard about a UK release for that.
(I'd prefer a UK disc TBH - while I have the Freeloader thing its annoying having to use it every time you just want a quick blast )
I'm curious about Pokemon XD too - is that a full blown RPG or, a sort of Pokemon Colleseum update?
Shadow The Hedgehog looks intriguing also.

Could any of you guys reccomend a great screen protector for the DS? I mainly just want one for the bottom screen.

I heard screen protectors actually do more damage then having none. they leave some residue and it makes the stylus less responsive.

I don't know about actually damaging the screen, but I prefer to not have a screen protector.

I bought my DS used, and a pair of screen protectors were already installed. Unfortunately, there was dust and fibers trapped under the protectors, and they weren't aligned properly. I removed them fairly easily, and I noticed the screen was immediately brighter. Of course, my experience was only with this particular brand of protectors. I have noticed slight scratches from normal use, but they aren't visible when the DS is turned on.

In summary, screen protectors aren't necessary as long as you don't abuse the DS. If you want to use screen protectors, get a well recommended, very clear brand. Take care installing them, and make sure your work area is relatively free of dust or other airborne particles.

I have never used screen protectors on any of my PDAs or the DS. You may get some light scratches, but you won't get any serious damage if you keep the screen clean and don't abuse the system. The light scratches are completely invisible when using the system. Screen protectors on the other hand are very noticable. Its not worth giving up screen quality just to protect the screen from minor damage.

To me its like buying a nice couch, but then covering it with thick plastic. What's the point if its going to ruin the enjoyment. You know like buying an expensive hooker, but then wearing a condom. Who would do that?

Wait, what forum is this?

Nintendo of America might be hoping Nintendogs finally gets DS sales moving, but Nintendo of Japan is still rolling weeks after that game left the charts.

The thing that is so bizarre is that none of the DS games in the top 10 right now will probably ever come to the US. Here is some stuff borrowed from Nintendojo.
Software Sales

DS JUMP SUPER STARS, 220,912 Sales
PS2 World Soccer Winning Eleven 9, 102,048 Sales
DS Gentle Brain Exercises, 46,873 Sales
GBA The King of Beetle Mushiking: Greatest ChampionGBA The King of Beetle Mushiking: Greatest Champion, 36,309 Sales
GC Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, 34,108 Sales
PS2 Medal of Honor European Assault, 33,361 Sales
DS DS Training For Adults: Work Your Brain, 30,518 Sales
PSP Mobile Suit Gundam - Girren's Greed "Blood of Zeon," 28,460 Sales
PS2 Grandia III, 27,378 Sales
PS2 Super Robot Wars Alpha , 3 26,567 Sales
Hardware Sales

DS 103,095
PS2 37,041
PSP 25,100
GBASP 19,958
GC 3,799
GBA 708
Xbox 202
Some upcoming things to look for in the US are the following games reviewed by Famitsu.
Goldeneye Dark Agent: 6,5,5,6 (we already knew this was crap)
Jump Superstars: 8,7,7,8 (looks interesting, but doubtful it will get a US release)
Madagascar: 6,5,6,6 (we get games like this and Goldeneye first in the US, I'm so proud)
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow: 9,8,9,9 (can't wait for this one)
Lost In Blue: 8,8,7,8 (this one looks good as well)
Puzzle Bobble DS: 7,6,8,7 (its Puzzle Bobble don't expect anything new)
Lunar Genesis: 6,6,6,7 (a very disapointing score for a Lunar game)
This doesn't really belong in this thread, but I did want to show the cool stuff gamers get in Japan for registering games and also how cool the Micro could be with a good design. That price still sucks though. Its actually $109 in Japan.

Now this is the type of DS commercials we need here in the USA.

I'll likely still pick this up right away, but I'm curious what brought the score down.
