Xbox controllers smaller?

Just a quick question. At work we have an xbox that vendors set up but the 2 controllers are different sizes. Did the shrink the size down of the controller since it's first release?

yeah - the original controller was large and many people disliked it. Then they released the S-Controller which was signifigantly smaller and more in line with the size of the controllers for the other two consoles. That was originally going to just be the Japanese version of the Xbox controller, but much whining got them to release it over here. There are even smaller 3rd party controllers as well.

The original controller only lasted about a year..?

I don't think I've seen them for sale for a LONG time.

That first controller was a behemoth. Unfortunately, I'm poor and can't afford to buy another S-Controller, so my friends don't like playing games at my place when they have to use the HA-Controller.

That's "Huge-Ass"-Controller, if you were wondering.

I do know a few people who prefer the original controller. I think it's nice to have a (non 3rd party) choice at least.

Count me in as one of those people. My kids hate it, but I always leave my 'HA" controller hooked up. I just got used to my white and black buttons above my Y button, and in a pinch, I don't wanna have ta go.. "Oh yeah...they're down under A now" while I get killed on Halo 2.

And I ain't no Shaq looking MoFo neither!

(I do have big hands tho...)

I like the original better for racing games. The S controler practically makes my hand cramp up playing Burnout 3. I don't have a problem with the size of the bigger one, but the buttons on the S controller are definitely better.

I prefer the original as well. The trigger feel for the two controllers is a different, as is the thumbstick feel.

There are things that the original isn't good for, like high action/buttong mashing titles, like Tony Hawk and LOTR

I love the Duke controller...the S just doesn't fit well in my hands.

Maybe we should trade. I don't like the big controller.

I prefer the HA one too, even though its big and hard to get used to at first, the button layout is better. I hate the layout of the black and white buttons on the S controller, and how they are buried into the plastic, I find them very obnoxious to find in a pinch.
