. Tried going for help on a Half Life forum. Yeah, big mistake... everyone this is either bitching or praising.
Spoiler:
There is a door behind that ring of fire with the dead zombies at the beginning of the level. Put out the fire(there is a valve to turn off the gas). There is a doorway back there. That should eventually lead to a room upstairs which has a switch to turn off the fence.

Ok, I'm stuck. I'm on the airboat, at a part where there were two armored vehicles attacking you, a crashed popeye looking boat in the middle of the lake, and what appears to be a jump ramp to a pipe behind some bars. I keep getting to the ramp, and jumping off it to enter the pipe, but the airboat never makes it. I think I'm high enough, but the airboat keeps acting as though it hit a wall. I went through the pipe on foot, and the helicopter shows up again when exiting the pipe. Ah!

cartman -

Spoiler:
Keep trying. I think I remember the part you're talking about. You just have to make the jump... if not, you either have to raise a ramp or open a dock... I don't remember one giving me any trouble, so sorry I can't be of more help.

Ghym, thanks, I figured it out.

I'm done with Ravenholm, and going on the Highway level now.
Spoiler:
It felt good to be fighting soliders again, for that brief period with the snipers and such. I wish it didn't end so quickly. Fighting these guys is by far the most fun so far.

Anyone know the answer to my question?

I just bought the game, and if I want to sell it after I finish it, say in a month or two, can I? I mean will the person that buys it be able to use it? If not, obviously I'll have to keep it.

Well, the game's cd key is tied into your Steam account. Basically, you'd have to sell your account, I would think.

So maybe if I sold it, just pass the account onto someone else, or is that not legal? Just curious. If I can't sell it, I might just return the game and wait for a lower price.

I figured out what the problem was... I didn't get behind the bars the "proper" way. You were supposed to shoot some fire tanks and go through a container with the airboat. I was jumping off a log to get behind there, and there was an invisible "you didn't do this correctly" wall blocking me from making the jump. I blew up the containers and made the jump no problem.

After getting to the next area, I stopped playing HL2, though. I keep running into people that one should recognize if you played HL, which I was never able to, so I'm playing HL Source now .

Just read some reviews, so HL2 normal version has no online multiplayer version of the new game? It only includes an updated version of CS with better graphics and slightly changed map? is that correct? It's not like doom3 that comes with own multiplayer maps?

That's correct. Half Life 2 didn't come with mutiplayer support or any mutiplayer maps.

If it makes you feel better, Doom 3 mutiplayer wasn't much of a mutiplayer anyways.

HL2's multiplayer is Counter Strike. Which makes sense, as that's what people played. No one played HL's original deathmatch.

I'm more of a Team Fortress fan myself... never liked Counterstrike much.

Well, the account is tied into your email and everything, and if you buy more Valve games, they'd be put on that account.

Well, there's only a handful... and they look fairly different because of the technology advances. There are a lot of new characters as well.

More accurately, Doom 3 multiplayer sucked. It played pretty much the same as Quake 1 multiplayer. It was even capped at a small max number of players. Ridiculous.

So basically, hl2 is a single player only? For playing cs, I don't have to buy hl2, I think.

The reason I asked is because I'm looking for a new online fps game, I haven't played any for two years since I stopped playing quake3 ctf.

I am in the same boat. I was kind of hoping for multiplayer as I am getting a little tired of COD: UO online. Isn't the CS:source just the old CS with updated graphics or does it take full advantage of the engine? Maybe they will actually be able to make Team Fortress 2 now.

Well, in what sense do you mean take full advantage of the engine?

Correct. Buy any version of HL2 and you get CS:Source.

Wow! I can use the flashlight as well as hold my weapon! How were they able to do that? Some kind of supercoding?

This game is awesome!

Spoiler:
I've reloaded I don't know how many times just so I could kill the enemy and use that fucking incredible machine gun. Just wish I could take down that truck that fires the rockets.
.

Don't know if that's a spoiler or not, but, better safe than sorry.

Now this is what Doom 3 should have been like. Have to stop playing my fingers are sore, don't play many FPS's.

smokedragon that's the part I stopped at, after reloading a couple of times for the same reason as you

I can't stop playing this game. After 2 hours of play I get a bad headache, quite for a half our or so and go right back to playing. I liked Doom 3, but it absolutely pales in comparison to this game. Fucking brilliant.
