E.B Games- trade in's worth it?

Hello

I've got about (5) PS2 games that I want to get rid of to get credit for an X-Box. There's Madden 2002, MOH Frontline, Devil May Cry (GH), Tony Hawks 3 (GH), and Silent Hill 2. I know they have to make money to but I'm not going to just give these away. Are they ok to deal with or is there another alternative of getting a better deal to go with in getting a X-Box?

Thanks
Kenny J.

You'll get more store credit at an FYE, Saturday Matinee, or Coconuts. I can't see EB giving you more than $10 total for those games, if that. I'd estimate FYE would give ya about triple that. There was a time when EB was a great place to trade with their trade 3, get 1 free deals (with few exclusions). But those days are long gone. Now you see deals like trade 4, get X game for $10 with practically everything excluded. You would even be better to ebay those.

Madden 2002 will probably be 25 cents at eb. You have to watch for the "no exclusion" promotions or there values are not too great.

BTW Blockbuster is also doing trade in on games now.

P.S. it is ususally easier to call the store and ask for the actual values than to post here.

Good luck regardless.

EB is probably the worst place to trade the games in. Blockbuster/gamerush and maybe fye/coconuts etc. are better places. Blockbuster tends to give you much more credit for your money than eb, plus they have had some great promos. For example they had a trade in 3 get $5 extra per game deal running a for a while. I think it just ended.

Try blockbuster. I had 6 games I wanted to trade in to cut down the cost of 2 copies of Halo 2(1 regular and one special).

Game stop was going to give me 23 for them. I went to Blockbuster and their trade in value was 46.50 which is just about the entire cost of a new game.

The only time to trade at EB is when they have the "2 games for $20" specials. They do stuff like this when you use the credits towards preorders. They had a trade in 5 games for Ninja Gaiden before it came out.

I traded in two games and got $20 towards HALO 2 . Normally they would have given me $7 total.

GameRush is the place to trade. Located in many BlockBuster stores... check the website and see if you have one close. Try and stack the deals and find a coupon as well.

Definately wait if you want to trade them at EB. They usually have some coupons or offers.

I echo the EB posts. Unless it's a special offer, they don't give much at all.

Unless EB has a trade in special they are the worst place you can trade games. I would recommend Game Stop over them. From my experience Game Stop gives about 25%-50% more than EB on trade ins depending on the game. Game Rush gives even more than that. When Game Rush was doing the extra $5 and especially the trade two get a new preorder for $29.99 I was getting double or triple the EB trade in values. Those deals are over, but Game Rush still gives the higher trade in values of the three.

Gamerush.
With 3+ games you get an additional $5 per game. I traded in three games including star wars: battlefront for a total of about $62. Granted the sw:bf game is relatively new but for having it over a month(have not played it much in a couple of weeks) and getting $40 credit is not bad in my book.

Yeah EB doesn't gives you s**t for the games. Ebay might be a better option.

Some of us don't have Game Rushes in our state I'm pretty jealous of those that do.

I had decent luck at Game Crazy, which is the game store for Hollywood Video. I traded in a bunch of games and ended up with about $100 in credit. I would have maybe cleared $125-140 on eBay, and the difference was worth it to me over the hassle of putting them all up on eBay and dealing with the details.

From: Mayberry, NC. Really, it is
GameStop gives you more in trade than EB, and sells used games for less. Take in 3 games or more this month and GS will bump up the scanned-in trade value for all of them by 30%. Sign up for the frequent trader club for $10 and get Game Informer for 10 months and a discount card for an extra 10% off used games. The magazine nearly always has a coupon for even more discounts which can be combined with your card and whatever other deal thay are offering.

And no, I don't work there. I am just a cheapskate who likes to help others

You would have better luck asking strangers on the street to buy your video games.

EB rates suck.
