headphones to use with xbox
I'm a pc gamer usually and have not messed with any headphones for my xbox. I saw live comes with some cheap O set that I'll not even bother with. What is recommended? and I assume they just plug right into my receiver yeah? though I've not seen any mic/stereo headphones with a 1/4" jack on them (though I've never looked either..) or maybe I'll need an adapter? suggestions?
edit - after thinking a bit, the receiver jack wouldn't work at all due to the need of a mic as well. So how exactly to headsets with mics work with xbox?

They plug into an adapter on the controller, you can use just about any cell phone headset that you want to, but you do need the adapter that plugs into the memory card slot on the x-box controller.

They're not cheapo headphones. In fact alot of the Jabra and a couple of others sounded way worse to me and others on LIVE. I'm not using anything else and have been on LIVE since Sept '02.
I'm thinking of the new Halo2 headset, but can't justify the $50. Can anyone give me a yay or nay on the Halo2 set?
Thanks

i thought i saw the halo headset for $40 somewhere... but can't remember where.

afaik, you can't use the mic/headset and headphones. the headset is so you can hear other people, not for sound effects or music from the game. as already stated, the headset/mic connects to the gamepad's memory card slot.
having said that, i did use my AKG k501 headphones which has a large ear cup and that fits over my ear and headset (the plantronics is small). it sort of squeezes the mic, but it's ok.

you don't use the live headsets for gameplay sound.

I have the headset and I think it's great, very comfortable and easy to hear and be heard. I justified it to myself by saying that I was also going to use it as a headset with my cell phone (which I do), so to me it was worth it.
