I got the invite for the clan ^_^ Thanks!

ok newbie question :P i thought the ranking stuff is based on how many games you win. I say I only played about 5 games and lost each one, so what am I at 5?

Fun stuff tonight guys. I'm still trying to figure out why I couldn't hear Trigger for a handful of games, but nothing a reboot didn't fix.

Had a good time tonight. If I don't see you guys for the next however-long, it's cuz I'm busy with HL2.

Its part of why Live sucks since you have all kinds of kids that do nothing but yell, scream, curse and annoy.

But at least there are ways to try and get in games with better people.

You hit something that I noticed the other night RIGHT ON THE HEAD! The DVDTalk Clan talks some smack, has some fun, but overall is VERY respectful and keeps the whining, cursing, and poor attitude out of the game.

Since I have small children that generally are sitting beside me watching and just dieing to get on Halo 2 Live with me, the conversations that come through on the surround sound tend to make me worry, but the Clan Battles we do are somewhere I don't worry. Heck, my off air comments are make me worry more than the Clan's.

I think that is the whole point of joining the clan, we are a bit of an older more mature crowd. I mean we certainly didn't all join because we know we are all so damn good . I know the people here share a common interest with me and throughout my time here I've never once had anybody trash one of my posts even if it was stupid.

Talking trash is part of the game, and a fun part at that, but there still needs to be a sense of sportsmanship involved. even when our asses kicked we always say good game alot of the other clans will only pay you the same respect if it was really close or they won, if we were to blow them out, they will generally have some pretty rude comments to make about us, and they are usually pretty lame and don't get much more creative than making fun of our gamer tags or the clan name. "How can you talk to a DVD" Idiots.

it's one thing to talk trash when you're good and you did something worthy of it, but it's another thing to hear a twelve year old yelping into the microphone and dropping the F Bomb every 5 seconds just because he can. Do you really think the same kids would be so disrespectful to your face? Not bloody likely people.

I almost forgot, it was like last Tuesday night there was this punk I can't remember what his tag was but the situation was hilarious, he was talking all about how we were his bitches and he can't believe how bad we are cause he's so high from just smoking a blunt and he's still kicking our asses so it's around 10:00 e.s.t. and I can hear this little kid in the background whining about wanting to play and all of a sudden his tone totally changed first he starting talking like a kid from the burbs instead of a thug from the inner city

Blunt guy: Get away chris
Chris: I wanna play
Blunt guy: stop touching the controller.......Mom!!
Mom: (mumbles in the background)
Blunt guy: come on just one more game
Mom: (mumbles in the background)
Blunt guy: I gotta go.

LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!

it was just that pathetic.

That's hilarious.

I remember a game a few days ago when this kis was cursing up a storm, and then I heard his Mom in the background bust him and tell him to watch his language. His tone quickly changed too

The thing that gets me is that this game is rated M.. Why are all these 12 year old kids playing the game? Probably talked mommy or daddy into buying it or found a store that doesn't care about the ratings.

I don;t mind the smack talk either, and sometimes it is amusing to hear. But at least be civil about it when the game is over. Don't gloat if you win and if you lose, don't make excuses, etc.

This one kid making fun of my gamertag was annoying in that he never shutup while playing. But what he was saying was pretty funny to listen to.

"Ohh.. I'm gonna get the flag.. now I'm jumping.. jumping.. you can't get me.. jumping. running..." It was like a running commentary..
He would occasionally sing what he was doing as well.

Now, I will say that all kids aren't this bad. I've had a few games when I was playing Jedi Academy more, and there are some good younger players. They don't swear constantly, yell or whine. But they are the exception.
It would almost be a lot more fun if there were 2 xbox live servers. 21 and under... Over 21...

LOL! I love the smack talk I just hate the disrespect in the clan matches.

I actually love the stupid comments some of these kids make, that's why I started that thread on the clan forum although my last story didn't make it because it wasn't during a clan match and the other members didn't get to hear it.

anyhow I didn't get to play at all last night, did you guys do well?? I don't think I will get to play tonight either, but I will absolutly be on Wednesday night. So I'm hoping for some good matches, and some funny comments.

We didn't do too bad in matches I was in. We lost for the most part, but they were close. Our minor clan ranking went down to 4 from 5, but when I left there were still a lot of members on. Not sure if any more clan matches were played.

I'll send an invite later on today. the link in my signature will lead you to the clan homepage where you can join the group there. You need to sign up for a bungie.net account if you dont have one before the join link shows up.

After people started leaving, we just played some intra-clan games. Yeah, we aren't getting beat as handily as we used to. Except for that last "territories" game. But that's more about knowing the map, I think. And the other team had a nice strategy of sending groups of two or three guys out to each spot.

Another good strategy was on that big map with the two towers in it that I can never remember the name of. ANyway, they would send their whole team over with the bomb, and they would just RAIN grenades down on those of us guarding the bomb-arming-site. Pretty much cleared us out each time. We should try that.

Wanted to apologize for my own potty mouth during clan games. I'm trying to work on that, but it's a bad habit of mine. So sorry to anyone with little kids watching!

I guess I don't mind the smack-talk, but the disrespect and rudeness pisses me off. I guess I shouldn't take what 15-year-old virgins say so personally, huh?

X

Okay, I'm finally in. My Halo 2 still hasn't arrived but I rented it over the weekend so I wouldn't fall too far behind.

I'll get in on some clan matches with you guys in the days to come, but need to practice up just a lttle more.

This is gonna rock.

Cool... I definetly have to get into some games with Thor.

I want to see him kill the other clan members with a precision cracker snipe to the head.

Just a reminder - it would be really helpful if people who are in the clan put their Xbox Live Gamertag in their DVDTalk signature. That way, we could start associating names and learning who is who. Not sure that sentence made sense, but hopefully you get what I mean.

Just a quick question. Why the hell is no one using the clan forum on bungie.net?? there are currently like 89 clan members, but only sixty something in the group and less posts than members, it seems like myself and like ten other guys are actually posting there.

I know I like to post here too but it just seems like it would be easier to use the clan forum for these discussions than extend this thread so far. There are 400+ posts to this thread and a whole range of topics. it's there for us to use so why not use it?

Most of us are DVD Talkers first. Trying to follow another forum just gets in the way. I remember this happening with DTSL too.

well I certainly agree with you there I keep this forum up all day and it's basically the only one I am ever on. But this particular thread is getting really long and I just figure it would be easier to utilize that for the clan.

How about making the clan database information sticky. Include the links to sign up at bungie's site, recommended color and symbol schemes in there as well. Then create separate threads for each topic to keep the database thread clean.

yeah man either of those could work. I'm not trying to be a big complainer or anything but just think of the guy that actually sits there and reads through 16+ pages of this! LOL especially when the topics change every 3-4 posts and in between a bunch of people send invite requests which reminds me.

it's probably time to remind people that if they are still undecided about joining, there are only like 10 spots left.

Man I'm so bummed I can't play tonight.
