Price drop for Mario Party 5? When?

Just wondering since I have someone asking for this as a Xmas gift. Does anyone recall by chance if when Mario Party 5 came out, did Mario Party 4 have a price drop right away or not? Since Mario Party 6 comes out in early December I wonered if Mario Party 5 would then drop in price. Thanks for any insights out there.

Mario Party 4 never dropped in price except for that Circuit City sale. It's still quite pricey now even with part 5 out.

Actually, I think 4 is better than 5. But so far 6 looks better than both. We'll see.

I personally liked 4 better than 5. Preferred the mushrooms rather than the capsules, and the boards seemed more manageable. If you just want to get one, they're pretty much just different board games... it's not like the graphics improve dramatically in the sequel, and you'll have fun with either one.

Just curious... what's new with 6? My wife loves this game...

I prefer 5 over 4, although both are good.

One new thing in 6 is the Microphone.

Yes, a microphone is included and several of the games rely on auditory input. The new minigames in general look like fun to me. Not sure how the boards will be different.

I thought 5 was much better than 4. I didn't like the game boards of 4 and hated the big/small mushroom gameplay.

Hmm... seems like I'm in the minority... maybe it's because I played much more of 4 than 5?

Nah, I'm with you. But I also have had more play time on 4 than 5.

And the fact that you can FFWD through the computer opponent's moves! BIG PLUS!

Can't wait for this one to come out! This and Karaoke Revolution 3 will be the entertainment at Thanksgiving.

I felt the mini games in 4 were better than 5. The ones in 5 just weren't as fun and felt dumbed down somehow - which is tough to do for a mini game. My friends and I only played 5 twice. (They refused to play it after that. We still play 4 on occasion.

After my experience with 5 I will be renting 6 first.

Seriously,

I would wait and get Mario Party 6. It seems more interesting and might have something going for it.

I pretty much thought Mario Party 5 sucked. Not much fun and kind of just dull. Even with multiple people.

I have played them all, but havent really liked any since Part 2.

I will get Part 6 though because I want to see how the gimmick works out and it brings back the excitement.

I am looking very much forward to Mario Power Tennis though.

As far as I know Mario Party 4 is not yet a Player's Choice title in the USA. I haven't seen it for less than $49.99 anywhere.

Count me in on getting Mario Party 6. I've owned every Mario Party since it came out and it's the best of the genre. The other party-style games are too hard for beginners and very casual players to compete with me. Mario Party is the only reason that I own 4 wavebirds. We have some great times when my 2 sisters come over. The Mario Party series has a lot more simple and random games that even things out (although I still have to give most opponents a star or two handicap before the game). I like 5 more than 4 but my wife likes 4 more than 5. The microphone doesn't interest me much because we play wirelessly around 15 feet from the Gamecube and something wired to the Gamecube is going to cramp that setup unless the cord is long enough. I'm sure the microphone enabled mini-games will be disabled if the microphone isn't being used. Anyway, looking forward to this one!

If that's true then they will have FINALLY solved the single most infuriating aspect of the game. And it only took them five tries...

I just saw the cover art and apparently there is a day/night feature as well, in that boards and events change depending on the time of day. That sounds pretty cool.
