Do you like the "rumble" feature?
I was thinking of picking up some Logitech wireless controllers for my Xbox and PS2.
That got me thinking about the rumble feature (for battery life)...and then it occurred to me that I don't actually care about the rumble feature.
Except for the rare instance where a game has utilized the feature in a neat way (like Ocarina of Time) I think it's pretty useless. Sometimes it's nice to know if you are being hit but it certainly isn't a necessity.
Thoughts?

I think has been discussed before.
I miss it on my Wavebird, but I'm not mortified by it's loss. It enhances the games a bit, but too few companies actually use it for anything other than "Oh! You took damage!"..

I've always liked the rumble feature, but when the Wavebird came out, I found I didn't miss it a bit.
Wireless > Rumble
I wish Sony and MS would put out first party wireless controllers.

I used to like it, but I've had a WaveBird since it first came out, and I've never looked back. I don't disable it when I'm playing PS2 and XBOX games, but I don't care if I don't have it either.

I like it. It's useful to give you instant "feedback" about when you are taking damage. I like the little kick you feel when you fire off a round. Even if it's rarely used innovatively (Splinter Cell's lockpicking comes to mind), it's pretty useful.
Don't worry about the Logitech controllers, though. The batteries can last months with the vibration on. I love those controllers like members of my own family.

I agree. like when characters are injured and there's a slow heartbeat like in X-MEN LEGENDS and other games.
I love force feedback.

I really like it. Not so much when it goes bonkers crazy like it does in Halo sometimes, but for the most part it adds to the game for me. Beyond Good and Evil uses it pretty well. I don't even realize I have it on but I notice when its off, if that makes any sense.

I think that most games use it well. It's great when you are playing SOCOM and get hit from out of nowhere and you feel it before you see it. Also in Madden when you can tell that the QB just got the ball away in time because the camera has moved but you can feel the jolt.
When the dual shock just came out for PS1, there was a terrible NFL Blitz clone that would have the controller vibrating full blast more often than not and that was terrible but it matched the terrible game.

Novelty feature that was great last generation (N64, PSX), but the novelty has worn off and should go.

As others have said, I like it, but I'm usually playing with the Wavebird so I don't often get to use it. Still, sometimes I wonder what I'm missing. The heartbeat thing in X-Men Legends sounds cool. I didn't know it did that. And even some GBA games use the rumble when played on the Game Boy Player. For instance, in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, you can detect buried items via the rumble.
