You can not compare the scores of a fighter and a FPS being as they will be judged in their type of game not going toe to toe with each other. In some other thread on this game I said the demo I played the AI seemed to be really dumb IGN said I was right.
PS. This thread will be right to I see a post form joshd the man.

The IGN issue is separate. IGN doesn't have a single decent reviewer. The writing is terrible, the reviews often don't make sense and never contain any salient criticism, and the scores don't seem to be based on any objective scale. All of that aside, I fully expect Killzone to receive mediocre reviews from more reliable sources.

I like what I've played of Killzone. It's not a "Halo Killer" but EGM was the mag that I remember reading that in, and I havn't believed a statement like that from them since they said Dark Cloud was a "Zelda Killer". But the demo of this game had me intrigued. Might pick it up when the price drops or a nice sale comes along.

Did someone page me?
I always felt that IGN rated there games a little high, so this is a little distirbing, but also confusing. The problems the reviewer mentions are things I did not find while playing the single player demo. In fact, in previews, GameSpot mentioned how things like framerate and AI were good. I'm not cancelling my order, but I am eager to read GameSpots review.

Well allow me to retort...
They are not so wait a second.
I think the people at IGN need to play a better 3D fighting game (read: Virtua fighter 4) before they go saying DOA is "perfect". While I admit the game looks stunning it lacks something....oh thats right gameplay. Bouncing boobies arent enough to keep me playing a game. I do like bouncing boobies but that's all DOA has going for it. Sure you can knock a guy off of a roof and chase him down to another level...only to do it again...and again...an...oh nevermind his health bar is depleted.
I just did so deal with it. The sarcasm is weak in this one.
Keyword here is DEMO, and I have the same demo thats been floating around for sometime and yes the A.I is dumb. Is this a final code? No. Will the game be perfect? Who knows. Will I still buy it after poor reviews given by people who dont have any direct connection to my well being? Sure why not. I blame just about every blerb written about Killzone since its introduction. I dont even compare Killzone to Halo, but then again I just compared the score of a three year old fighting game to a new FPS like they were the same game
. So maybe Im not so different fomr every other jerk who writes for IGN sadly though I dont like paying for "exclusive" content I just want to play games. Is this so wrong?
P.S I dont think Josh cares.
Say what? I had no idea a FPS and a fighter was the same type of game
I think DOA got a high score cause it's one of the best fighters out today. Kill zone it would seem does not even beat a 3 year old game so that is why it got a low review score.

The reviewer worded it perfectly. Of course, I haven't played the game - but from what I've seen, and heard (mainly from this review) - it sounds like "a good game with problems that should be played.". A 7.5 is certainly a let down, but I'll still check it out.

Specifics for those who don't feel like linking....
7.5 Presentation
Killzone offers a minimalist's menu but a fair amount of options. Progressive scan output would be nice, but that omission doesn't hurt the title and its cohesive feel, even if it does start abruptly.
8.0 Graphics
Killzone boasts incredible art direction. Every level is stylish and appropriate while every character and gun is meticulously detailed. Then again, it's also slow running and loaded with glitches.
9.0 Sound
Amazing music and some very crisp, very believable effects are brought down only by repetitive voices and bad dialogue. Brought down, but not by much. Terrific audio job, Guerilla.
7.0 Gameplay
Here's where it gets sticky. The AI is terrible and the scripted combat isn't very exhilarating. But then it looks and sounds so good it's often possible to get lost in the war.
8.0 Lasting Appeal
Provided the technological deficiencies don't bother you, Killzone offers a solid multiplayer mode that happens to be plagued by the same problems as the singleplayer game.
7.5 OVERALL:
(out of 10 / not an average)

PS2 + Good looking FPS x PS2 user base > XB user base x "Hype"/
Need for magazine sales = Halo killer

It doesn't but it would be nice if the PS2 could put out at least one exclusive, top notch FPS. I think we have enough outrageously named RPG's.............

I have no cancelled my pre-order, and don't plan to. I thoroughly enjoyed myself on the demo, so I see no reason why I wouldn't like the whole game.

I don't enjoy the GTA games that much, but I realize that more disagree with me than agree, and I don't threadcrap (much).
Halo is the 2nd highest rated of all-time (of the current consoles if you don't count the new rating of GTA:SA).
