One-And -Only Ratchet & Clank : Up Your Arsenal Thread
Well, you knew I'd be starting this one. My favorite guys are back and the IGN review just went up
Here's the closing:

Of course the most common debate among PlayStation 2 gamers these days is "Which is better, Ratchet 3 or Jak 3?" And while I'll leave that debate up to each individual player once both games have been released, I can safely say that Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal is easily the single best effort in that entire series of titles so far. Granted, it would have been a close race if not for the inclusion of Ratchet's online mode, but once that feature has been considered it's all over -- the sheer amount of fun you'll have when playing against seven other people in the six different maps and various gameplay modes here is almost immeasurable -- it's that damn good.
But what impresses me most about Up Your Arsenal is the fact that the single-player adventure didn't suffer in the least. It's just as entertaining, interesting, and fun as the online segment. What's more, is that Ratchet 3 can be picked up and played by just about anyone and be enjoyed equally; offering a viable Christmas alternative for people that are apprehensive about the curse-ridden violent opus that is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It's only real detriment is the fact that it's a bit on the easy side (easier than Going Commando), but that's really about it. The rest is all gravy, and an unabashed must-own for every PS2 gamer with a pulse. Enjoy!
9.0 Presentation
The brand new interface and cleverly hidden load times supplement and fully realized intergalactic world. Up Your Arsenal's storyline is pretty damn funny too.
9.5 Graphics
Ratchet boasts some seriously wicked graphics technology each and every year, and Up Your Arsenal is no different. There's no slowdown, plenty of objects onscreen, and tons of special effects.
9.0 Sound
Up Your Arsenal's soundtrack is top-notch (though a little less impressive than last year's) and is supported rather well by a terrific vocal cast and powerful audio effects.
10 Gameplay
The all-new control schemes feel fantastic and the tightened physics are phenomenal. Level design may still be linear but it's fun as hell and the online mode kicks ass.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
Though limited to six maps, the online mode is the best PS2 Internet option since SOCOM with a ton of cool stats that can be tracked. The single-player game is addictive and will last 20+ hours.
9.6 OVERALL:
(out of 10 / not an average)
Oh Lord, I want this title NOW. Let's get a clan together for it soon!

Seriously, these are great, fun games. I'm really looking forward to the third one. It's hard to believe that Insomniac can turn out a high-quality new game every fall, but they do.

I bought part 2 before I even played part 1. I got to some part where you can use goods from part 1. So I bought part 1. finished it a couple months ago, haven't touched part 2 since. It is in my "to play" as well.
I was in part 3 beta. Was disappointed in the online, just wasn't that fun. But will still be picking it up for the single player mode.

I can wait for it to be a "Greatest Hits" title, like I did with the first 2. Still haven't finished the 2nd, and I'm not sure I ever will; I kinda lost interest after about 10 hours.

I pre-ordered this game with Blockbuster trade in credit : $8 for any DVD so I was able to pickup $360 in BBV credit.
I really don't have a problem paying $40 for this game as Insomniac is a fantastic game developer and this money will hopefully just fuel the next release.
I'm not online for the PS2 so the single player mode will do for now. This will server as a nice title and a good way to break from the Halo 2 goodness.

The R&C series is by far the "FUNEST" gaming experiences I've had in years. As I've become an older gamer, mid-20's, I usually find myself rampaging thru games just to beat them...then I move onto the next title. But with R&C I find myself taking time to find everything, then going thru multiple plays on the game. I cannot wait until Tuesday for this one.

This game does have a better overall rating at GameRankings than GTA: SA and Halo 2 right now (ok, yes, Halo 2 only has one review up, but whatever).
I've been looking forward to this game ever since I beat the hell out of Going Commando. I did everything possible in that game, and enjoyed playing it over and over again. When it ended though, I wanted more and here we have it. I didn't get it today, no stores around here got it in today, but I'll be picking it up tomorrow if all goes well.
I'm shocked that it's getting such great reviews though. I expected it to get great reviews, but not like this. I mean, to put this into perspective, the game is ranked #2 overall at GR second only to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Wow.
So if you want a great platformer to get into, be sure to pick this one up. Going Commando is my favorite ever as of right now, but I'm ready for UYA to take that spot pretty soon.

I started a clan called DVDTALK. I guess i have to invite people? So post your username here and i'll send an invite. If anyone else would rather organize this i'll gladly yeild cause i've never been active in a clan before.
I'm surprised at how fun and addictive the online gameplay is. And how fast it runs (after a laggy SOCOM experience)

Oooooooohhhh Sweet mystery of life, at last I've found youuuuu!
I LOVE this game so far (and I just cracked the box). How can they take a near-perfect game and make it better every year? This is really something. Love the plasma whip, what a blast.
Tried to play online, but I started too late and there were only three full games going on. Maybe this weekend. It sure looks like they put a lot of polish on the multiplayer mode.
Anyway, I'm in for some multiplayer gaming this weekend. Sign me up for the clan, Clark. My username is Decker. One advantage to getting in early : I get my desired user name

Got it. Beat it twice. Loved it. However, the game doesn't have the variety of Going Commando in regards to the solo-campaign.
Additionally, the difficulty level has been toned down quite abit. In fact, during my first run thru of the game I beat it tossing up the shield, laying out turrets and using the sniper rifle.....even beat the last boss like that.

Beat it TWICE aready? Wow, you must be good. The nice thing about the game is that the variety of weapons can really change your stategy to the levels.
I really like that you can try out your weapons in VR prior to buying them. Great idea.
Do you know about the discount at the vendor for old R&C saves? I don't know if I should use that now (it says one time only), or wait and use it on a more expensive weapon later?

Decker,
In the first half of the game if you goto slim cognito you get the turrets and the lava gun for free. On the Captain Quark Hideout level he will announce that he has new objects, those being the Bouncer, Shield and Plasma Storm. They are all free.

I got caught up in the rave reviews for this game so I picked it up this weekend. No regrets, it's incredible (especially considering the $40 retail price).
I haven't tried online play yet. I'll try it tonight and post my name here (hopefully 'Gromit' if it's not taken).
