Hmm.. so with Tales of Eternia, that's two Tales games already slated for PSP.

I don't get it either.Anyway, I'm really disapointed in the price Lik-Sang is charging... looks like I will wait even if they have a unit for me.

Well, I went ahead with two of my orders, one from Lik-Sang & one from Play-Asia. Both charged $529, of course, but if someone out there is willing to pay 1k for these babies then I have no problem listing them.

Massive queues in Japan as PlayStation Portable sells out at launch
Rob Fahey 16:42 13/12/2004
Sony's pint-sized wonder hits streets in the Far East, but not enough to go around
Queues over a thousand people long formed at some retailers in Japan yesterday as Sony's PlayStation Portable went on sale, with fears of a shortage realised as stocks sold out within hours at some major outlets.
News agency Bloomberg reports that around 1200 people queued up for a chance to buy a PSP at the Bic Camera electronics store in downtown Tokyo, with many queuing overnight.
The size of the queues may well have been related to Sony's exceptionally small initial shipment numbers, which saw just 200,000 units of the console being released for its launch day - compared to over half a million units of Nintendo's similarly priced Nintendo DS handheld, which was launched earlier this month.
Queues were especially large at retailers such as Bic Camera which did not take pre-orders for the hardware, with a spokesperson for the retailer telling Bloomberg that "it's the most people we've seen lined up for a game device in recent times."
According to market research firm Media Create, 171,963 units of the PlayStation Portable were sold yesterday in Japan; taking exports and untracked sales into account, it seems likely that practically all of the initial allocation has been sold out.
Sony hopes to ship additional units to Japanese retailers on an ongoing basis between now and the New Year, bringing final numbers to around 500,000 units by the end of the year.
Exporters have been quick to cash in on the difficulty faced by most customers in getting hold of PlayStation Portable hardware, with many charging more than three times the retail value of the console to ship units outside Japan.

Once again, Sony's hardware quality rocks!

Sony PSP Defects Reported
Among many to report on this issue, OneHungLo writes "GamesAreFun.com is reporting that several defective PSP units have been shipped, suffering from problems such as dead pixels, broken UMD drives, air bubbles in the screens, dust in the screens, and the analog "nubs" not working, or actually falling off. They also have a video of a UMD popping out of the PSP as it's running, due to the unit being twisted/turned. I wonder how long it will be until Sony issues an official statement about this?"

"Several" probably equates to a handful of problems being posted on tons of message boards. From what I've heard, the unit is pretty solid. As for that video, why the hell is that guy twisting the unit? It is as if he is trying to break it

Hopefully, they will work some of these problems out before the US launch. My brother got a Nintendo DS and it, too, had a dead pixel.
Has a US release date been set and a firm price? I'm think I will pre-order one, something I've never done with a game system before.

I've read on a few message boards that if you hit the PSP with a hammer it doesn't work too well any more... Who the hell twists their electronics like that?

I know some of you are new to portable gaming (or gaming in general from some posts) but portable games are NOT held still. Obviously movement isn't as active as shown in the video (at least I'd hope not) but that was probably done simply to get a video of the issue at hand. I think a good question for this is: how many units are affected (already asked above) and to what extent? If it only happens with a sudden jerking movement it probably won't be a huge issue (though still something that needs to be corrected), but if it happens during normal movement I'd consider this an emergency issue.
As for dead pixels, my girlfriend had one on her DS, but managed to get it swapped at Target before they started becoming impossible to find. I think that's just a problem that's bound to come up with mass production of these kinds of screens. Hopefully by the time PSP comes here (March?) the screen production will have slowed down or improved a bit. Bubbles and dust are probably victims of the same mass-production issue.

jeffdsmith, it may seem like a fine line, but we draw the line at name calling.
Get Me Coffee, if "someone needs a Mario hug!" isn't trolling, I don't know what is.

Yep, that was closed for the personal attacks, not nintendo bashing, and the mod said to feel free to start and new thread on the DS music/video thing.
And as, the other poster said, use the report this post button (the little triangle on the bottom left of each post) to report posts you think area against forum rules. The mods can't read every post.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to be a part of what got that thread closed. I don't regard the term "fanboy" as being an attack, I was using it to describe the attitude present in the posters comments, I shouldn't have used it. I regard myself as a Nintendo fanboy, but not one so blinded by my love of Nintendo that I attack other companies/systems. I digress...

Aw, pixy, did you delete your posts or did someone else? that was funny! Anyway, I'd like to hear from someone who got their imports too. I've seen those really small videos where the discs pop out, and I can't help but wonder if those guys are some how sneakily hitting the eject button while playing...
