No way...got through the first MGS just fine, but about an hour into MGS2 was enough for me.
I've got plenty of games to get through where I actually get to control the main character most of the time.

No...I am not getting it.... I played through MGS on PSX...and I bought MGS2...but I couldn't get in to it. It turned me off quick when I had to start playing as that queer Raiden. It would have been cool if it would have been Raiden from Mortal Kombat....it would have been cool to shoot lightning and sneak around a corner and do that flying attack and knock the enemy down. LOL

preordered it when i preordered GTA:SA. I love the MGS games even though the cutscenes are retarded.
I played the demo in PS magazine and it was quite fun. Looking forward to playing it for real. Since it takes me forever to finish MGS games it'll last for quite a while.

I will buy it after a price drop. I loved the Metal Gear games for NES and MGS for PS1. But, MGS2 for PS2 was teh suck. I think this game is going to put the series back on track.

The controls were excellent. The graphics were top for the day, and the gameplay engine was nearly flawless. If they would have gotten the story correct, it would have been a 10.
But because MGS2 had a really crappy story (they tried too hard to stir up emotions when they came so easily in MGS) everyone shuns it as a bad game. I mean, this isn't DMC2 we're talking about here.

Well I was going to wait and finish Metroid Prime 2 before I picked it up, but thanks to GR I ended up preordering it and payed it off in full already for practically nothing

Josh, I completely agree. Frankly, I thought the story in MGS1 was retarded as well. I've seen movies that I thought sucked with better characters, dialog and story elements than either game. But the gameplay in MGS2 was just so incredible and the graphics so fantastic I was sucked right in. And I don't care about Snake as a character so the switch to Raiden was fine by me.
Only complaint was that it seemed to build up to you driving a Metal Gear and it never happened. They have to do that at some point.
