Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Anyone else excited about this game? It's suppose to be shipping to stores today. Read GameSpy's review and GameSpot's preview in which both had a lot of positive things to say about the game. Here are a couple of screens and the links to the articles....

GameSpy Review
GameSpot Hands-On Preview

It would have been nice if they would have included a bonus disc that had the original N64 Paper Mario and Super Mario RPG(SNES) on it. Never got to finish Paper Mario and my N64 is buried somewhere in storage. Oh well, its not like it's a continuation from the previous titles. Once again the Princess has found a way to get herself kidnapped.

As soon as I get my copy I'll post my thoughts on it.

Very much looking forward to it. Paper Mario was one of two games I actually set aside my dislike of the N64 for.

This is a must own for me. I can't wait. If it's half as much fun as the original, I'll be happy.

It was EGM's game of the month and many are calling it the best Mario game in years, certainly the best one to come to the Cube.

I've got mine preordered and can't wait. I really enjoyed the N64 game and Mario and Luigi on the GBA. This is suppose to have all the humor of the GBA title. Gotta love an RPG that doesn't take itself seriously.

Had this game pre-ordered for about a month. Hopefully I can go pick it up Tuesday. I too loved the first one and Super Mario RPG on SNES and M & L Superstar Saga on the GBA. I played the demo for this and it looka amaving, I love the art style.

With this and Midway Arcade Treasures 2 coming out this week I'm a happy gamer (now I need to beat the last couple levels of X-Men Legends so I can start on the new gamers)

I haven't received my new EGM issue. What scores did it get?

EGM gave it all 9.0s.

I'm hoping to pick it up next week if the TRU rumor is true.
Been holding off on Pikmin 2 and Donkey Konga for a good deal, so I'm hoping to get all three for $100 on Sunday.

I have had this preordered at gamerush for a while now. Never played the first but looking forward to this one, it will be my first RPG in a long time. I still have Skies of Arcadia collecting dust.

It's a great game, sure it's childish but the gameplay is AWESOME and the story is sooo campy Mario. I don't see what Game Informer is complaining about, this game really feels like it was made for adults AND children...you know, like the Pixar films.

If it was made for everyone, then it isn't childish. Not trying to knock you, Superboy.. just a general observation.

I see people call things "childish" if the graphics aren't realistic or it's a game without gore (ie; a mario platformer).

Those mario games (and all the others) were played by older teens and adults back when they came out. So, when something similar comes out today, it's called childish.

If it's FUN.. I don't care if it's cute looking or a blood-fest. Childish, to me, would be an elmo letter or number game.

Calling a Nintendo game like this "Childish" or "Kiddie" based on its "Everyone appeal" is like calling a Pixar film a children's film.

Guys, don't dwell on one word. Superboy is praising the game and acknowledging that it's for both adults and children.

I know that we're all a little gunshy about the "Nintendo = Kiddie" slams that occur regularly in this forum, but let's not go after one of our own.

Definitely a lame review. The point of a review is simply to rate the game on whether it's fun to play or not IMO. They could dock it if it's too easy, too short. But just saying it's kiddy and giving it a low score is ridiculous. They could mention that it's cartoony/kiddy and that some gamers may be turned off by that, but it's wrong for a "professional" (and I use that term loosely in the case of Game Informer) reviewer to give a game a low score for being kiddy.

The one I got at Game Rush had that as well. I've heard there is a version without the Best Seller logo. No idea why its on there.

Yeah mine has the same seal that says best seller, I guess it is already a "player's choice". Maybe it was meant to say "follow up to the best seller" or something like that.

Anyways picked up my copy at gamerush today, but I won't really even have a chance to play it til next week probably, if then.
